Ce livre évalue les propriétés physiques (atterberg), minéralogiques (diffraction des rayons X) et chimiques (fluorescence des rayons X) de certaines argiles dans une partie des États de Bauchi et de Gombe, au nord-est du Nigeria. Après avoir évalué les caractéristiques physiques, chimiques et minéralogiques des argiles, elles ont été comparées à certaines spécifications industrielles standard afin de déterminer lesquelles d'entre elles conviennent à l'application dans chaque industrie.

Questo libro valuta le proprietà fisiche (atterberg), mineralogiche (diffrazione a raggi X) e chimiche (fluorescenza a raggi X) di alcune argille presenti in parte dello Stato di Bauchi e Gombe, nella Nigeria nord-orientale. Dopo aver valutato le caratteristiche fisiche, chimiche e mineralogiche delle argille, queste sono state confrontate con alcune specifiche industriali standard per determinare quali tra esse sono adatte all'applicazione in ogni settore.

Tras evaluar las características físicas, químicas y mineralógicas de las arcillas, se compararon con algunas especificaciones industriales estándar para determinar cuál de ellas es adecuada para su aplicación en cada industria.

In diesem Buch werden die physikalischen (Atterberg), mineralogischen (Röntgendiffraktion) und chemischen Eigenschaften (Röntgenfluoreszenz) einiger Tone in Teilen der Bundesstaaten Bauchi und Gombe im Nordosten Nigerias untersucht. Nach der Bewertung der physikalischen, chemischen und mineralogischen Eigenschaften der Tone wurden sie mit einigen industriellen Standardspezifikationen verglichen, um festzustellen, welche von ihnen für die Anwendung in den einzelnen Industrien geeignet sind.

This book assess the physical (atterberg), mineralogical (X-Ray Diffraction) and chemical properties (X-ray flourecence) of some clays in part of Bauchi and Gombe State, North Eastern Nigeria. After assessing physical, chemical and mineralogical characteristics of the clays, they were compared with some standard industrial specifications determined which among them is suitable for application in each indutry.

In studying the Geology of an area one has to know the different rock types that bear the water in that area and the structures associated with it. Hydrogeology is area of geology that deals with the distribution and movement of groundwater in the soil and rocks of the earth¿s crust. It deals with flow of water through aquifers and other shallow porous media.The main aims and objectives of the study are as follows;1. Determine the ground water quality in the boreholes and hand dug wells in the area and its suitability for domestic and agricultural uses.2. To provide information for the use of organizations interested in ground water resource development in the area.3. To satisfy one of the requirements for the award of degree of Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) in applied Geology at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University.
