The study examined how the Convention¿s pastors use social media in mediative dialogue to resolve conflicts in building peace in churches. The study focused on using social media in mediative dialogue among pastors in Baptist churches within Ibadan city. It focused on Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp, and Telegram. Its time frame is 2010 to 2020. It was done through three qualitative research methods: sample surveys, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. The study discovers that many Baptist pastors in Ibadan have been using at least a social media platform. It reveals that while few pastors consciously use social media to promote sustainable peace and resolve conflicts through mediative dialogue, most pastors are sceptical about using social media to resolve conflicts through mediative dialogue. While most pastors that use social media use WhatsApp and Facebook, many are just migrating to Telegram, and few pastors use Twitter. The research recommended that governments, faith-based organisations, and pastors of the Convention should deploy social media in the process of mediative dialogue as an instrument for deepening sustainable peace.Conflicts in the world impair sustainable peace. Conflicts have to be resolved and transformed for peaceful coexistence to achieve one of the seventeen blueprints of the United Nations¿ Sustainable Development Goals ¿ peaceful and non-violent societies. A process of attaining peace is peacebuilding. One of peacebuilding means is mediative dialogue. Many faith-based organisations, especially the Nigerian Baptist Convention, resolve conflicts among its churches through various means. As the world has metamorphosed digitally and social media changes communication means globally, using social media in mediative dialogue will likely improve conflict resolution by faith-based organisations.

Os pastores têm vindo a promover a paz sustentável através dos seus ministérios em geral e a resolver conflitos especificamente. Têm feito isto através da oração, do ensino e da pregação das palavras de Deus. A maioria destes pastores tem utilizado pelo menos uma categoria de meios de comunicação social pessoalmente e ministerialmente.Isto fornece como vários aspectos e características dos meios de comunicação social (especialmente Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp Messenger e Telegram Messenger) podem ser utilizados não só pelos pastores mas também por outras partes interessadas na promoção da paz sustentável e na resolução de conflitos através do diálogo mediático.

Lo hanno fatto attraverso la preghiera, l'insegnamento e la predicazione delle parole di Dio. La maggior parte di questi pastori ha utilizzato almeno una categoria di social media a livello personale e ministeriale.Questo fornisce come vari aspetti e caratteristiche dei social media (in particolare Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp Messenger e Telegram Messenger) possano essere utilizzati non solo dai pastori ma anche da altri soggetti interessati a promuovere una pace sostenibile e a risolvere i conflitti attraverso il dialogo mediativo.

Los pastores han estado promoviendo la paz sostenible a través de sus ministerios en general y resolviendo conflictos en particular. Lo han hecho a través de la oración, la enseñanza y la predicación de las palabras de Dios. La mayoría de estos pastores han utilizado al menos una categoría de medios sociales a nivel personal y ministerial.Esto muestra cómo los pastores y otras partes interesadas pueden utilizar diversos aspectos y características de las redes sociales (especialmente Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp Messenger y Telegram Messenger) para promover una paz sostenible y resolver conflictos a través del diálogo mediador.

Les pasteurs ont promu une paix durable par le biais de leurs ministères en général et en résolvant les conflits en particulier. Ils le font par la prière, l'enseignement et la prédication des paroles de Dieu. La plupart de ces pasteurs ont utilisé au moins une catégorie de médias sociaux personnellement et dans le cadre de leur ministère.Cela montre comment divers aspects et caractéristiques des médias sociaux (en particulier Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp Messenger et Telegram Messenger) peuvent être utilisés non seulement par les pasteurs mais aussi par d'autres parties prenantes pour promouvoir une paix durable et résoudre les conflits par le biais d'un dialogue médiateur.

Pfarrerinnen und Pfarrer haben durch ihre Arbeit im Allgemeinen und die Lösung von Konflikten im Besonderen einen nachhaltigen Frieden gefördert. Sie tun dies durch Gebet, Lehre und Verkündigung des Wortes Gottes. Die meisten dieser Pastoren haben zumindest eine Kategorie der sozialen Medien persönlich und in ihrem Dienst genutzt.Dies zeigt, wie verschiedene Aspekte und Funktionen der sozialen Medien (insbesondere Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp Messenger und Telegram Messenger) nicht nur von Pfarrern, sondern auch von anderen Akteuren zur Förderung eines nachhaltigen Friedens und zur Lösung von Konflikten durch einen vermittelnden Dialog genutzt werden können.

Pastors have been promoting sustainable peace through their ministries generally and resolving conflicts specifically. They have been doing this through prayer, teaching and preaching of the words of God. Most of these pastors have been using at least a category of social media personally and ministerially. This provides how various aspects and features of social media (especially Facebook, Twitter, WhatsApp Messenger and Telegram Messenger) can be used not only by pastors but also by other stakeholders in promoting sustainable peace and resolving conflicts through mediative dialogue.

Since the advent of the Internet some decades ago, and the evolution of social media in general and instant messaging apps or platforms in particular, there has been no form of online communication accepted and widely used as WhatsApp Messenger.This booklet gives brief history and milestone of WhatsApp Messanger since its inception, some of the major features of the app, some cautions one has to make in using the app, and how the app can be used effectively in Christians ministries.
