There are different types of responsibility centers such as profit centers, investment centers, revenue centers and cost centers. In the following report, the focus is on cost centers. Here, a variance analysis based on standard costing is a performance measure of a cost center (Siegel & Shim, 2006). In addition, a standard costing system is a useful tool facilitating decision-making.

Dies ist auf die weltweite Finanz- und Wirtschaftskrise,die sinkenden Passagierzahlen und auf die Entwicklung der Treibstoffpreise zurückzuführen. Angesichts dieser Branchenkrise haben sich viele deutsche Banken, unter anderem die West LB und die Bayern LB, aus der Flugzeugfinanzierung zurückgezogen. In normalen Zeiten ist die Branche jedoch höchst profitabel und die Technik weiterhin zukunftsträchtig. Der weltweite Luftverkehr expandiert seit Anfang der 70er Jahre nahezu unaufhaltsam.Ein Großteil dieser Entwicklung ist zurückzuführen auf das Passagieraufkommen, das seit 1970 durchschnittliche jährliche Zuwachsraten von 6,3 Prozent verzeichnet. Dabei hat sich das Wachstum als sehr krisenfest erwiesen. Trotz der Branchenkrise im Jahre 2001 (Terroranschläge 11.September) und 2003 (SARS-Epidemie) stieg das Passagieraufkommen zwischen den Jahren 2000 bis 2008 um 38 Prozent. AktuellePrognosen von Boeing haben ergeben, dass im Zeitraum von 2008 bis2028 der Personenluftverkehr im Durchschnitt um 4,9 Prozent wächst.Dabei wird sich die globale Flugzeugflotte von 18,800 Flugzeugen auf35,600 nahezu verdoppeln, was ein künftiges Investitionsvolumen von 3,2 Billionen US-Dollar ausmacht. Der Großhandel Handelshof ist der Hauptlieferant für die jeweiligen Produkte. Der Gründer Alexander Berger hat sich bewusst für die Gastronomie-Branche entschieden,da er einerseits Erfahrungen als Kellner in diversen Restaurants sammelnkonnte und andererseits am Mediapark Köln noch einen entsprechenden Bedarf an Restaurants mit kreativen und innovativen Ideen sieht.Die Zielgruppen sind hauptsächlich Firmenmitarbeiter der umliegenden Firmen undKinobesucher.
