Ziel der vorliegenden Studie war es, die schützende Wirkung von Thuja orientalis Linn gegen die durch Thioacetamid induzierte Hepatotoxizität bei Ratten zu untersuchen. Thuja orientalis wird in der ayurvedischen Medizin für die Behandlung verschiedener Erkrankungen verwendet. Thuja orientalis hat die biologischen Fähigkeiten der Entgiftung, Antioxidation und Antiinfektion. In dieser Studie haben wir die antihepatotoxische Wirkung des wässrigen und Petrolether-Extrakts von Thuja orientalis auf die durch Thioacetamid verursachte Leberschädigung in einem Rattenmodell untersucht. Hepatische Schäden, wie sie durch die Histologie und die erhöhten Aktivitäten von (AST), (ALT), (ALP) und die Abnahme des Gesamtproteins (TP), des Albumins (Alb) und des Globulins (G) gezeigt wurden, wurden bei Ratten durch eine Verabreichung von 50 mg/kg Thioacetamid intraperitoneal (i.p.) induziert. Der Extrakt hemmte signifikant die erhöhten AST-, ALP- und ALT-Aktivitäten und die verringerten TP-, Alb- und G-Werte, die durch die Thioacetamid-Intoxikation verursacht wurden. aus dieser Studie kann geschlossen werden, dass die Extrakte von Thuja orientalis eine effektive hepatoprotektive Aktivität besitzen.

O presente estudo teve por objetivo avaliar a capacidade de proteção da Thuja orientalis Linn contra a hepatotoxicidade induzida pela tioacetamida em ratos. A Thuja orientalis tem sido utilizada na medicina ayurvédica para o tratamento de várias doenças. A Thuja orientalis tem as capacidades biológicas de desintoxicação, antioxidação e anti-infeção. Neste estudo, avaliámos o efeito anti-hepatotóxico do extrato aquoso e de éter de petróleo de Thuja orientalis na lesão hepática induzida por tioacetamida num modelo de rato. A lesão hepática, revelada pela histologia e pelo aumento das actividades de (AST), (ALT), (ALP), e a diminuição da proteína total (TP), albumina (Alb) e globulina (G) foram induzidas em ratos por uma administração de 50 mg/kg de tioacetamida injectada intraperitonealmente (i.p). O extrato inibiu significativamente as actividades elevadas de AST, ALP e ALT e a diminuição dos níveis de TP, Alb e G causada pela intoxicação por tioacetamida. A partir deste estudo, pode concluir-se que os extractos de Thuja orientalis possuem uma atividade hepatoprotectora eficaz.

In questo studio abbiamo valutato l'effetto antiepatotossico dell'estratto acquoso e dell'etere di petrolio di Thuja orientalis sul danno epatico indotto dalla tioacetamide in un modello di ratto. Il danno epatico, evidenziato dall'istologia e dall'aumento delle attività di (AST), (ALT), (ALP) e dalla diminuzione delle proteine totali (TP), dell'albumina (Alb) e della globulina (G), è stato indotto nei ratti dalla somministrazione di 50 mg/kg di tioacetamide per via intraperitoneale (i.p). L'estratto ha inibito in modo significativo l'innalzamento delle attività di AST, ALP e ALT e la diminuzione dei livelli di TP, Alb e G causati dall'intossicazione da tioacetamide. Da questo studio si può concludere che l'estratto di Thuja orientalis possiede un'efficace attività epatoprotettiva.

Dans cette étude, nous avons évalué l'effet antihépatotoxique de l'extrait aqueux et de l'extrait d'éther de pétrole de Thuja orientalis sur les lésions hépatiques induites par le thioacétamide dans un modèle de rat. Des lésions hépatiques, révélées par l'histologie et l'augmentation des activités (AST), (ALT), (ALP), et la diminution des protéines totales (TP), de l'albumine (Alb) et de la globuline (G) ont été induites chez les rats par l'administration de 50 mg/kg de thioacétamide injecté par voie intrapéritonéale (i.p.). L'extrait a inhibé de manière significative l'élévation des activités AST, ALP et ALT et la diminution des niveaux TP, Alb et G causées par l'intoxication au thioacétamide.Cette étude permet de conclure que les extraits de Thuja orientalis possèdent une activité hépatoprotectrice efficace.

    Investigate the antihyperglycemic and antioxidant properties of the extracts of Ocimum canum leaves in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Hyperglycemia was induced in rats by streptozotocin (STZ, 45 mg/kg body weight). Three days after STZ induction, diabetic rats received Ocimum extract 100 mg/kg and 200 mg/kg body weight daily for 28days. Glibenclamide (600 ¿gm/kg) served as reference. Blood glucose levels were measured on every 7th day during 28 days. Serum biochemical parameters such as low density lipoprotein (LDL), very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), high density lipoprotein (HDL), atherogenic index and the activities of alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) were estimated. Antioxidant enzymes like (catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), reduced glutathione (GSH), serum thiobarbituric (TBAR) were measured in the diabetic rats. Therefore, Ocimum canum demonstrated remarkable antidiabetic activity in STZ induced diabetic rats. The potential antidiabetic action is possible due to its modulation of endogenous antioxidant status.

    Diabetes mellitus is a clinical syndrome characterized by hyperglycaemia due to absolute or relative deficiency of insulin . This can arise in many different ways, but is most commonly due to autoimmune type 1 diabetes or to adult-onset type 2 diabetes. Dyslipidemia in diabetics can cause significant cardiac conditions. The main aim of this study was to detect the antidabetic and antioxidant activity of aqueous and petroleum ether extract of Platycladus orientalis in Streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats.Diabetes was induced in rats through an intraperitonial injection of streptozotocine (STZ) (55 mg/kg). In order to detect the antidiabetic activity, the extracts of Platycladus orientals was given orally at doses of 100 and 200 mg/kg daily for 28 days. On day 28 the serum lipid profile that is total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein(LDL), high-density lipoprotein (HDL), very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), etc. were estimated.The antioxidant parameters such as superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione (GSH), TBRA and coronary artery disease (CAD) were also evaluated.The extracts at doses of 200 mg/kg significantly decreased the blood glucose on 28th day.
