One of the main benefits of deploying system virtualization technology is the isolation provided by the virtualization platform. It increases the security where the infected or compromised guest has zero effect on the other running guests and on the host machine itself. Such encapsulation renders the current state of the guest system state to be unknown. We propose and implemented new approach to monitor the virtual machines. The idea simply laid on having a centralized monitor and mobile agents. The mobile agents will be spread among the running virtual machines, each machine will host one agent. The monitor will continuously check the remote machine health state and availability and automatically recover those which marked as unhealthy/not-available (crashed).

En général, je n'ai pas approfondi les différents types de virtualisation de systèmes d'exploitation, cependant, ce livre donne une description suffisamment détaillée des différents types de virtualisation de systèmes d'exploitation disponibles, de leur architecture, et couvre les avantages et les inconvénients des virtualisations de systèmes d'exploitation. This book is intended to serve as a good resource for those interesting in virtualization technology; specifically, operating system virtualization. In general, I have not gone in depth into any type of OS virtualization, however, this book gives a sufficiently detailed description about the available different types of OS virtualization, their architecture, and covers the cons and pros of OS virtualizations. My expectation is that this book provides considerable detailed analysis, design, and the implementation of how the virtual machines recovery process can be automated using ZFS snapshots and multi-agent system. In a virtual environment, it is possible that the virtual environment might crash or froze, or the virtualized operating system suffers from virus or worm infection, thus, automating the recovery process increases the availability of the monitored virtual machines.
