There is little regular documentation of American merchant seamen who lived and worked during the first thirty years of the nineteenth century; and what does exist is often scattered. This booklet explains where and how to look for documentation on a specific seaman active during this era.

The Big Field is a lovely children's picture book and an important addition to resources for the Early Years curriculum. Patterned after books of hours, it is a month-by-month account of life on a farm at the edge of the Atlantic Rainforest in South America. Birds, flowers, butterflies, and bugs abound in a warm and gentle story of three young children living on their grandmother's farm and learning from her the seasonal changes and simple activities that often mirror those of children in the northern hemisphere. The subtext of the grandmother's determination to reforest the big field of the title gives hope and a way forward to young children as they learn about nature and conservation in the modern world.

This booklet contains twenty-two posts from the first eight years of "The French Genealogy Blog" on the subject of genealogical research using French notarial records. Some new material, including a glossary of notarial terms, has been written exclusively for this booklet. It follows on our first publication "French Genealogy From Afar", which explains the basics of French genealogy and without which this booklet may seem a bit confusing.

This booklet contains thirteen posts from the first seven years of "The French Genealogy Blog" on the subject of French rural life through the seasons using the months of the Republican calendar and following Eugène LeRoy's "l'Année Rustique en Périgord". It follows on our first publication "French Genealogy From Afar" , which explains the basics of French genealogy, including a section explaining the Republican Calendar, and without which this booklet may seem a bit confusing. Our 2014-2015 Calendar, which is no longer available, contained historically important dates of interest to the French genealogist. We have added those dates for each month to this booklet.

This booklet contains eleven posts from the first seven years of "The French Genealogy Blog" on the subject of the largely American Genealogical Proof Standard as it may be applied to the documentation found in French genealogy. These posts were written during our participation in a study group on the book by Thomas W. Jones entitled "Mastering Genealogical Proof". At the time of going to press, the sessions of that study group could still be seen on YouTube. This booklet follows on our first publication "French Genealogy From Afar" , which explains the basics of French genealogy and without which this booklet may seem a bit confusing. It is our most sincere wish that you, Dear Reader, would find it of use when it comes to analyzing and evaluating the results of your French genealogical research.
