Arthur Drews (1865 - 1935), Philosoph, Schüler Eduard von Hartmanns, wichtiger Vertreter des deutschen Monismus und einer der bekanntesten Verfechter des Jesus-Mythos, schreibt im Vorwort: "Hegel und Feuerbach haben beide die Religion als das Selbstbewusstsein Gottes bestimmt, nur jener in positivem, dieser in negativem Sinne, jener, um die religiöse Weltanschauung damit ein für allemal gegen alle Einwände sicher zu stellen und das religiöse Bewusstsein in unerschütterlicher Weise zu begründen, dieser, um die gesamte Religion durch den Nachweis ihrer rein psychologischen und anthropolo­gischen Bedeutung aus der menschlichen Geistesentwickelung überhaupt auszuscheiden.
