El Museo de la Ciudad de Rio Grande se fundó en 1984 con el objetivo de preservar la memoria histórica de la ciudad y se dividió en dos colecciones: la Colección Histórica y la Colección de Arte Sacro. È stato quindi condotto uno studio sui nuovi arredi espositivi, indagando sui materiali utilizzati per la costituzione della collezione, sul loro stato di conservazione e anche sui materiali più adatti per la costruzione delle vetrine.
