Vincent Banecroft, der jähzornige Chef der STRANGER TIMES , hat den Tod seiner Frau nie akzeptiert ... trotz recht eindeutiger Beweise für das Gegenteil. Nun scheint es, als ob er doch Recht behalten könnte: Wie weit wird er gehen, um sie zu retten? Banecroft ist abgelenkt und damit kommt der Rücktritt von Hannah Willis als stellvertretende Chefredakteurin äußerst ungelegen. Ist es eine gute Idee, sich ausgerechnet jetzt in das schicke New-Age-Zentrum einer Promi-Sekte zu flüchten? Und dann verschwindet auch noch ein ehemaliger Kolumnist der Zeitung - besonders beeindruckend, da er nie existiert hat.

Als ihn das erste Mal jemand umbringen wollte, war es ein Zufall. Das zweite Mal war volle Absicht. Jetzt ist Paul Mulchrone auf der Flucht vor Leuten, die er nicht kennt und von denen er nicht weiß, warum sie ihn töten wollen. Seine einzigen Verbündeten sind eine Krankenpflegerin, die definitiv zu viele Krimis gelesen hat und Paul mit gefährlichem Halbwissen berät, und ein abtrünniger Kommissar mit einem ungesunden Hang zu Alkohol und roher Gewalt. Gemeinsam müssen sie das berüchtigtste Verbrechen in der Geschichte Irlands lösen - ansonsten sind sie bald selbst nur noch Geschichte ...
