    Carl Ewald (born October 15, 1856 at Bredelykke in Gram in Schleswig, died February 23, 1908) was a Danish author, best known for his Darwinist- inspired art adventures on nature. After working as a journalist at a local newspaper in Svendborg , he settled down as a freelance journalist in Copenhagen . He joined the ideas in the Modern Breakthrough and became co-editor of Ove Rod's journal Copenhagen. Under the brand "Mr. Hansen" he provided journalism to Politiken. He began writing books and in the 1880s published a number of problem books in the style of the time about, among other things. gender roles and child rearing and unfolded in the years thereafter with great energy in almost all genres.

    I 1711 er der pest i København, og hoffet flytter til Koldinghus. Under en maskerade ser Frederik den 4. for første gang den purunge Anna Sofie, der er datter af storkansler Conrad Reventlow. Det er kærlighed ved første blik, men Anna Sofies mor er meget imod forbindelsen og holder datteren indespærret på familiens gods, Clausholm. Året efter bortfører Frederik den 4. imidlertid Anna Sofie, udnævner hende til hertuginde af Slesvig og lader sig vie til hende til venstre hånd. Anna Sofie er forhadt hos store dele af hoffet, og specielt kronprinsen, den senere Christian den 4., afskyr hende.Ved dronning Louises død i 1721 gifter Frederik den 4. sig med Anna Sofie til højre hånd og lader hende krone til dronning. Hun bliver således den eneste danske dronning af ikke-fyrstelig herkomst.Forfatteren og journalisten Carl Ewald (1856-1908) havde en omfangsrig produktion, der strakte sig fra ironiske artikler i Politiken over debatterende samtidsromaner og historiske romaner til eventyr. Carl Ewald er også kendt for sin oversættelse af brødrene Grimms eventyr.
