Charles Dickens (1812-70) was an established novelist when he wrote the most famous Christmas story in English literature in only six weeks. This reissue of the first edition allows readers to enjoy the story as Dickens had intended, and as its first readers experienced it during Christmas 1843.

The first book edition of Great Expectations was published in three volumes in 1861. It is now reissued simultaneously with the serialised version of 1860-1 and a newly photographed colour reproduction of the original manuscript, enabling scholars and enthusiasts to study the book version alongside the work-in-progress.

Bleak house is Charles Dickens's ninth novel, published between 1852 and 1853 in twenty monthly installments. It is considered one of his finest, containing a massive assemblage of minutely portrayed supporting characters, and a labyrinthine array of sub-plots. Bleak House focuses on the unimaginably drawn out trial of Jarndyce and Jarndyce, a case presided over by the Court of Chancery, a body which deals in matters of trusts and guardianship of infants.
