Language and Literature Pedagogy at university level has always been somewhat exigent. The long-established system that placed the teacher at the centre and learners flaccid has to be trampled without violating conventions. The 21st Century has marshaled innovations in teaching and learning language and literature. Internet, social media and other ICT tools have simplified some complex issues. Simultaneously, they have come in with their own problems such as the difficulty in choosing the best resources for instruction, and updating one¿s knowledge almost on a daily basis. The editors of this book brought together their colleagues to produce this volume which is concerned with these issues. Topics on the teaching and learning of reading, listening, vocabulary, phonology, mother tongue- based education and teaching English through Facebook and WhatsApp among others are covered. The difficulties that lecturers and students face and suggestions on how to curtail them are given considerable attention. This book will be useful to scholars concerned with the pedagogic aspects of language and literature. It will also be of interest to those in related disciplines in general.

The present volume draws on the experience of the pan-African conference in Yaoundé in Summer 2015, where young scholars from Cameroon met young and experienced scholars from Germany, Tanzania, Ghana, and Nigeria. They discussed not only their individual research projects, but also their personal writing experience.This volume records some of the conference presentations supplemented by specially commissioned contributions by experienced research partners in the field. It is particularly useful for young scholars who intend to demonstrate their credibility as researchers in their thesis (BA, MA, or PhD) or in their research and grant applications, in national and international networks. The examples of small projects here try to prove and illustrate that every scholar can profit from the international exchange of ideas and research experience.
