Making a film or commercial takes a lot of people, equipment, time, and...These 1970 and 1980 photos were scanned in 2014 from 35mm film negatives, slides, and 3x5 prints. They were taken in the 80's and 90's to document some of the movies and television commericals shot in and around San Antonio,Texas. The same film crew hired over and over became family and enjoyed working together. Here are photos of a few of them.And now "Hair In The Gate Kirk" wants to show you some of the still photos he took while playing an Assistant Cameraman in the film business.Some film terminology is included to add some interest to the process of filmmaking in the 1980's before the days of digital cameras.

Enclosed are some articles and stories written over a number of years about getting old that are quite depressing and repetitive in thoughts. No way could anyone want to read them, but they were the author's feelings at the time and also those of his friends in his age group, over 70, who talked for hours on the telephone. The title is not inspiring so if you read this, you're on your own.

A Black & White photo book of one persons experience putting on gunfights in San Antonio. It was put together for those who were there, those who shot their pistols with blanks, and entertained visitors with western scripts. No one was an actor, per se, but he enjoyed putting on a western outfit, getting shot and taking a nice fall...even off a building into a wagon full of hay.

Volume Two, More Western Art. Don Kirk has been traveling the West for many years searching for the physical remains of the American West of the 1800's. He found many abandoned buildings with weathered clapboards sitting precariously on rotting cedar posts. He found desert towns with dilapidated boardwalks, squeaking windmills on the open plains, and boarded-up mine shafts. He found recreations of Old West villages built as movie sets for westerns, and he drew from scratch fictional towns to be built for the next great western theme park. These Pen & Inks were originally drawn back in the early 1990's for use on notecards, stationary, postcards, and art prints and this is the first reproduction of some of those works of art that you can use for coloring with pencil or crayon or for just looking at.
