Seminar paper del año 2008 en eltema Romanística - Estudios españoles, Nota: 2,0, Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (Romanistik), Materia: Hauptseminar: Géneros, tópicos, escrituras: presencia de la tradición literaria extranjera en Eugenio Cambaceres, Idioma: Español, Resumen: En los últimos decenios se podía observar un crecimiento constante de las enfermedades mentales deberse a la creciente presión de la sociedad y el mundo laboral al individuo. Si bien esas enfermedades predominan más bien en nuestro siglo, se extendieron también en siglos precedentes. En la novela Sin Rumbo del autor argentino Eugenio Cambaceres, publicada en 1885, el tema de la enfermidad psíquico lleva al protagonista Andrés, quien en vano intenta escapar del vacío de su existencia. Para que la novela corresponda a la novela experimental, proclamada por el autor francés Emilio Zola, Cambaceres sigue aplicando la doctrina que sirve de base al método a un caso psicológico, el representado por Andrés, rodeado de personajes específicos e inserto en la sociedad de la Argentina de los 80. Influido por las afirmaciones de Schopenhauer el destino de Andrés se comienza a desarollar hasta un fin determinado.El fundamento de este trabajo forma la presentación de ¿Sin Rumbo y el naturalismö presentado en el seminario ¿Géneros, tópicos, escrituras: presencia de la tradición literaria extranjera en Eugenio Cambaceres, Horacio Quiroga, Nicolás Olivari, Juan José Saer¿.En principio mi trabajo presenta una intromisión en el naturalismo de Zola, el precusor de un nuevo género literario, describiendo después como el naturalismo se ha distribuido en la Argentina.

Concepts of Identity¿[¿] who am I?¿( Possession, p.251) are the pondering thoughts of the academic Maud Bailey, the main female Protagonists-maybe the most common question that arises when oneself is reflecting about himself. At the same time this question implies a longing for identity, which is the key theme of the novel discussed in this paper. Possession can be read as a double quest for identity since the protagonists¿ search for their biographical subjects, the Victorian poets H.R. Ash and C. LaMotte, is closely connected to their own search for themselves. However the term identity is a concept which offers various interpretations so that it firstly will be defined by reference to different point of views: the autonomous self by definition of René Decartes, the Freudian approach, developed further by Jacques Lacan and the deconstructionist view of Jacques Derrida.

The historical frame around the novel provides the reader insight into the Antebellum South illustrating the limitations which American civilization imposes on individual freedom of African Americans by the time before American Civil War and furthermore attacks on the evil ways in which racism impinges upon their lives. At that point opinions about the novel¿s correctness arise and critics are divided into detractors and supporters, where opinions range from ¿racist trash¿ to ¿one of the world¿s greatest books¿.
