Code switching (CS) or the alternation of languages by bilinguals has attracted an enormous amount of researchers¿ attentions. Although many empirical and theoretical studies have been done in CS field, there have not been adequate studies in Iranian bilingual settings. Furthermore, studying on students¿ attitudes toward CS from personality traits (PT) perspective is completely a new topic all around the world. Based on a comprehensive survey of the literature, no similar study could be found in Iran and the world except for two research papers in non-educational setting in abroad. Due to this critical gap in CS, this book focused on the relationship between MA EFL students¿ PT including extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience sub-scales and their attitudes toward teachers¿ CS behavior in Urmia, Iran. In addition, the overall attitudes of students toward teachers¿ CS behavior were discussed. This book as a completely unique research in educational setting can help bilingual English teachers to reflect on their CS behavior, and also provides researchers and students with a coherent and up-to-date survey in this significant area.

Songs create repetition and reinforce new words that your child is learning on a daily basis. The most important part of learning a language is talking with native speakers. The second most important part? Self-study. Songs are great for self-study because they make your study sessions fun. Having fun while you study is a really effective way to learn.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2011 im Fachbereich Informatik - Sonstiges, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: The use of technology in language learning and teaching programs is very essential. The present study was set out to investigate the effects of E-mail writing on improving EFL learners' written communication and autonomy. The participants of the study were 44 female and male sophomore students, by the age of 18-21 who were randomly assigned to the two groups of experimental and control. Each group consisted of 22 participants. The course lasted for 5 months, and was held in one of the universities in Urmia, Iran. The first group (experimental group) sent their assignments through emails in addition to the traditional class activities but the second group (control group) had the traditional class and assignments were handed in hard copies. For measuring the written communication, a pre-test and post-test was administered to both groups. The pre- and post-tests were criterion reference tests (recognition tests and productive writing activities), based on the materials covered in the class. The pre- and post-tests were parallel recognition tests and productive writing tasks. In order to measure the participants' level of autonomy, the Learner Autonomy Questionnaire, developed by Kashefian (2002), with 40 items in a five-point Likert scale was given to them. The obtained data was analyzed through the SPSS software. The results of this study will be useful for language teachers, learners, administrators and material developers.

Academic Paper from the year 2018 in the subject English Language and Literature Studies - Linguistics, Urmia University (International Students Admission Department), course: TEFL, language: English, abstract: The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between MA English students¿ personality traits (PT) and their attitudes toward university teachers¿ code switching (CS) in Urmia, Iran. In addition to that purpose, the correlation between each sub-scale of PT, including extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, neuroticism, and openness to experience, and teachers¿ CS is analyzed. Finally, the overall attitudes of MA TEFL English students toward CS behavior are discussed, as well. To this end, 150 MA English students (70 males and 80 females) from State and Azad universities of Urmia City participated in this study. Two instruments were used for data collection: In order to measure students¿ PT, the Big Five Inventory designed by John & Srivastava, 1999, was administered. Secondly, to measure students¿ attitudes toward teachers¿ CS, the questionnaire developed by Mingfa Yoa (2011) was used. According to the results, no significant relationship was found between the PT of students and their attitudes toward teachers¿ CS. Furthermore, there was no significant relationship between students' PT and their attitudes toward CS regarding the five sub-scales of PT. The findings of the study indicate that the majority of students have similar attitudes toward the CS phenomenon. Their overall attitudes were positive toward teachers¿ CS, and the majority of students agreed with CS in EFL settings. As a result, it was revealed that CS is an acceptable behavior in the EFL context from MA TEFL students¿ perspectives.
