    "Distilling a lifetime's insights on the triangle of healing emotional pain, social justice work, and spiritual growth, veteran activist and educator John Bell shares personal stories and reflective practices to help us on our path of personal and collective transformation Unbroken Wholeness brings an integrated lens of social justice, trauma healing, and spiritual practice to the work we do in the world and the pressing concerns of our times. Collectively, these writings help us access a view of the world as unbroken, even in the face of obvious suffering and disharmony. With searching questions and easy-to-follow practices, Unbroken Wholeness offers a way for activists to apply mindfulness and insight to bring about healing for seemingly intractable social divisions. "Skillfully handling our emotional pain about the world while cultivating a joyful and kind heart helps us navigate the troubled waters of our life," says John Bell. Continuing the peace work of his teacher, the Vietnamese social activist and Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, John Bell brings forward the importance of cultivating a practical yet visionary, ennobling view of humankind when engaging in the "mud" of daily difficulties that gives rise to the lotus of an enlightened, compassionate heart"--]cProvided by publisher.

    Time is all. A new cycle has begun. The Atlas Mountains in Morocco, present day: A Berber boy, Uyyub, falls asleep under a sacred tree and dreams the tree talks to him. Curious and intrigued, he returns, but this time the tree talks to him when he is not asleep. Together they travel through time, charting the course of the evolution of life on Earth with particular reference to his clan's genesis. Uyyub's sister, Thiyya, joins them to watch the dirty-dancing dinosaurs and ends up interacting with events at the meeting between man and superman. Belief, Sid, is close by on all occasions to guide the brother and sister towards the final meeting with Time himself. Our solar system is one of the several nurseries within the universe, devised by Time and his many personalities (the gang) to promote life and help staunch Time's ongoing boredom. The experiment on planet Earth is a miraculous success, giving rise to much speculation within Time's gang. It is, therefore, being closely monitored and so the illegal time travellers are soon discovered, prompting a race between Time, who is determined to put an end to this anomaly; and the sacred tree, equally determined to enlighten the children fully of their heritage. Who will win the race?

    Elaine Stritch: The End of Pretend is a book about an extraordinary life. It chronicles the twilight of actress Elaine Stritch's career, offering a rare first-person and no-holds-barred glimpse into the private persona of a Broadway legend. Told primarily in Stritch's own words, The End of Pretend provides an unvarnished portrait of this brutal and most honest truth teller. Her personality commands the page with full force. Both hysterical and mesmerizing, John Bell renders Stritch in a fashion that is true to life, punctuating his narrative with her infamous humor, her infamous foul mouth, and her infamous foulmouthed humor. Most fascinating is Bell's ability to get Stritch to talk, with harrowing honesty, about her journey through increasing states of vulnerability: facing the end of her career, leaving New York, and navigating the gauntlet of physical ailments that led to the end of her life. Ultimately, The End of Pretend is a treatise on mortality. Readers will be surprised at Stritch's life-affirming messages and her ability to "e;make friends with the end of pretend and leave the building with a little dignity."e;
