Has God the right to exercise our "free will"? Are we in charge if God rules over human free will? What exactly is morality like? What exactly is sin? Jonathan Edwards answers important philosophical queries about God's sovereignty, free will, God's knowledge, determinism, moral agency, desire, choice, good, and evil in this timeless classic. Every Christian can benefit from reading "Freedom of the Will" because it serves as a useful tool for understanding the magnitude of Christ's love in overcoming our minds and emotions and genuinely loving us. Every Christian family's library ought to contain this.

If you want to go deeper in your faith. If you want your understanding of doctrine to be strengthened. If you want to be inspired by a leading revivalist. If you want to be provoked to prayer. If you want to learn to reason well with Scripture. If you want to learn from one of the greatest preachers of all time. If you want any of these things, then you should read Jonathan Edwards.Jonathan Edwards' Original Sin delves deeply into this fundamental doctrine in Christian theology, arguing that all human beings inherit the sin of Adam and Eve, resulting in a corrupted nature and a separation from God. Edwards explores the theological underpinnings of this doctrine and its implications for human nature, morality, civic life, and salvation.Edwards' rigorous and systematic approach helped to make this work a cornerstone of Reformed theology, as well as a piece of historically important writing, offering insight into the intellectual and religious climate of early America.

A Faithful Narrative of the Surprising Work of God is Jonathan Edwards' account of the revival that broke out in Northampton, Massachusetts and other nearby communities which was the start of what later became known as The Great Awakening (1734-43), also called the First Great Awakening. There is much we can learn from Edwards concerning the nature of genuine conversion and how God's Spirit works in awakening and converting sinners.A Faithful Narrative is reproduced here in the hopes that many people will benefit from the wisdom learned by Edwards, called the greatest evangelist ever to grace the American continent.Different editions of this book had different chapter divisions, but the same information.A few old words we no longer use have been replaced with their modern equivalent, the spelling of a few words have been updated such as to-day to today. And a few very long paragraphs have been made shorter by adding an indentation, otherwise the words and punctuation are the same as original. The final chapter is an account of his early religious experiences and conversion that was found among his papers at his death, and is supposed to have been written at Northampton, when he was about forty years of age. It is not found in all editions of this book, so it is great to have it in this 2019 edition.
