The lesson is the first in the teaching unit of Northern Ireland and therefore introduces the pupils to the country, its history, culture and peoples everyday life. As a result, the main competence to focus on in this lesson is the intercultural competence. The pupils learn about similarities and differences in culture between Germany and Northern Ireland. Beforehand, the pupils already learned about the cultures of England, Wales and Scotland prior.
