In Singa Leão Pura Cidade, we tried to take a different approach to the theme of mixed race and Lusodescendence, aiming to understand images and stereotypes built, over the years, about these communities and also to perform our own approach to our space of analysis: the Lusodescendant community of Singapore. We have detected, at first, the emergence of a community which, from the ethnic and linguistic point of view, has the sea as its cradle. We then proceeded to an analysis of the Portuguese views on these Lusodescendant communities in Southeast Asia, particularly Singapore, thus glimpsing the successive dominant currents in the way of experiencing a space and a community and guessing details of the political and cultural contexts in which the works were produced. Starting from the idea of the Culture of Discovery, we took into consideration the creation of a discursive body of knowledge about the Orient. On the other hand, for an analysis of the community's life unfolding, as well as for a better view of the traces of its current identity and the presence of a Portugal in the eye, we used two types of instruments: autochthonous texts and questionnaires.

This book is structured on the basis of the analysis of Portuguese views on Lusodescendant communities in Southeast Asia, which allows us to glimpse the successive dominant currents in the way of experiencing a space and a community and to guess details of the political and cultural contexts in which the works are produced. The work starts from the origin of the communities of Lusodescendants in Southeast Asia, focusing, in particular, on three surviving communities in Malacca, Tugu and Singapore, which, from the ethnic and linguistic point of view, have the sea as their cradle. Since this is an analysis of the Portuguese gaze, primacy is given to Portuguese studies, and their philosophical, political and cultural frameworks, along with a general outline of the schools of knowledge and the constructions of knowledge.

Este libro se estructura a partir del análisis de las visiones portuguesas sobre las comunidades lusodescendientes del sudeste asiático, lo que permite vislumbrar las sucesivas corrientes dominantes en la forma de experimentar un espacio y una comunidad y adivinar detalles de los contextos políticos y culturales en los que se producen las obras. La obra parte del origen de las comunidades de lusodescendientes en el sudeste asiático, centrándose, en particular, en tres comunidades supervivientes en Malaca, Tugu y Singapur, que, desde el punto de vista étnico y lingüístico, tienen el mar como cuna. Al tratarse de un análisis de la visión portuguesa, se da primacía a los estudios portugueses y a sus marcos filosóficos, políticos y culturales, junto con un esbozo general de las escuelas de conocimiento y las construcciones de conocimiento.

Ce livre est structuré sur la base de l'analyse des regards portés par les Portugais sur les communautés lusodescendantes d'Asie du Sud-Est, ce qui permet d'entrevoir les courants dominants successifs dans la manière de vivre un espace et une communauté et de deviner les détails des contextes politiques et culturels dans lesquels les ¿uvres sont produites. Le travail part de l'origine des communautés de Lusodescendants en Asie du Sud-Est, en se concentrant, en particulier, sur trois communautés survivantes à Malacca, Tugu et Singapour, qui, du point de vue ethnique et linguistique, ont la mer comme berceau. Comme il s'agit d'une analyse de la vision portugaise, la primauté est donnée aux études portugaises et à leurs cadres philosophiques, politiques et culturels, ainsi qu'à un aperçu général des écoles du savoir et des constructions de la connaissance.

Dieses Buch ist auf der Grundlage einer Analyse der portugiesischen Sichtweisen auf die lusodischen Gemeinschaften Südostasiens aufgebaut, die es uns ermöglicht, die aufeinanderfolgenden dominanten Strömungen in der Art und Weise, wie ein Raum und eine Gemeinschaft erlebt werden, zu erkennen und Details der politischen und kulturellen Kontexte, in denen die Werke entstanden sind, zu erraten. Die Arbeit geht von den Ursprüngen der Gemeinschaften der Lusodescendants in Südostasien aus und konzentriert sich insbesondere auf drei überlebende Gemeinschaften in Malakka, Tugu und Singapur, denen das Meer aus ethnischer und sprachlicher Sicht in die Wiege gelegt wurde. Da es sich um eine Analyse der portugiesischen Sichtweise handelt, stehen die portugiesischen Studien und ihr philosophischer, politischer und kultureller Rahmen sowie ein allgemeiner Überblick über die Schulen des Wissens und die Konstruktionen des Wissens im Vordergrund.
