Five women rose in the dark of a Sunday morning on Nisan 18, AD 30. They had agreed to meet together in the most densely populated city in the Roman Empire to perform a necessary but cheerless and gruesome task. Two of them were relatives of the deceased man; each of the other three had been healed by his touch. Their mission was critical. In the rush to entomb their Rabbi by nightfall three and a half days earlier, a crucial step had been omitted-that of applying oils to his burial shroud. The women had prepared the oils as soon as possible and carried them in small alabastra, but they had been excessively delayed. Not one but two intervening Sabbaths had postponed their graveside visit until that particular morning. They knew the stench inside the cave-like tomb would be unbearable, but their love compelled them to honor the man they grieved so deeply. They didn't know that Roman soldiers had been posted to guard the doubly sealed tomb. They didn't know that the stone over the tomb entrance weighed about three-quarters of a ton.But then the sun broke. This is their story-and his.The most important day in history is the day Jesus Christ rose from the dead. This is the complete, integrated account of the events from Jesus' last words to his ascension, combining all the New Testament records with additional historical and cultural information. The resurrection of Jesus was the most pivotal day in history.DAWN is actually two books in one. Part One (the first half of the book) is dramatized history. It reads as a multi-layered story, with dialogue and historical details to highlight the emotions and movements of the characters involved. It transports you, the reader, back into Palestine some 2,000 years ago to experience the dynamics of those emotionally charged days. The second half of the book provides the background research for the story. This half of the book consists of Part Two, which is a complete integration of the four gospel accounts with extensive footnotes, and Part Three, which addresses questions about the chronology, writers, characters, and relationships. Particular focus is given to the women, especially Mary Magdalene. The book is 392 pages (softcover). From the Author:While researching and writing this book, I was continually surprised and delighted by the discovery of hidden details which I had never noticed before, despite having already read the resurrection accounts more than 100 times. For example, in this book you will discover: 1. The names of the four relatives of Jesus at the cross, and their relationships 2. What was happening at the temple at the time Jesus died 3. Where the disciples were between the crucifixion and resurrection 4. Why Peter and John were separated from the other disciples and from each other 5. Why the Jewish leaders wanted Roman guards at the tomb (It was not for the reason they gave) 6. How it's known that Jesus was resurrected (at least) several hours before dawn. 7. How the guards' own words prove they were lying about the body being stolen 8. From whom Matthew learned about the soldiers' experience at the tomb 9. Why Peter made a second trip to the tomb (yes, he made a second trip) 10. What was the connection between Mary of Bethany and Mary Magdalene 11. Who first believed that Jesus was alive (it's not Mary Magdalene) 12. Where Mother Mary was between the crucifixion and the day of Pentecost...and more!

  • - Keep Movin' Forward
    von Mark Miller
    24,00 €

Always a Tiger: Keep Movin’ Forward is written from the point of view of a common middle class man.  Who, through all of the tragedy had to go to work, deal with middle class financial means, and set an example for his children.  The book is an introspective, inspiring, and spiritual memoir of a man whose life’s career as an educator and coach has been dedicated toward the betterment of young people.     Mark Miller’s unique personal story involves six different kinds of extreme tragedy: the cancer and death of his wife, Mark’s role in an automobile / motorcycle accident fatality, one murder, two suicides, losing two friends to brain cancer as well as almost losing his family in a single car accident of their own.  Yet, through the power of attitude, choice, faith, family, football, and love, Mark has re-married and is trying to be better not bitter.       Mark’s story is about the daily impact of his Christian faith, identifying with his family’s military heritage, the blessings of family, friends and loved ones as well as the application of the life lessons of football.  Through the empowering attitude of the conscious choice to work to be better and not bitter, it is a testament to the time enduring fact that, even in death, God and love never fail.  Always A Tiger: Keep Movin’ Forward is a memoir with direct interest for anybody needing or wanting a new perspective and appreciation about life.    Successful leaders know and acknowledge the fact that assistants and subordinates perform most of the work that makes an organization successful.  The Pareto Principle states that 20% of the people do 80% of the work within an organization.  General Colin Powell and other great military leaders agree that the true status of an organization can be measured by getting feedback from the soldiers.  Always A Tiger: Keep Movin’ Forward is written from the perspective of being a Military Dependent, not the solider.  The perspective of a coordinator and / or assistant coach, not the head coach.  The care giving husband and father, not the cancer patient.     Adversity is defined as an unfavorable fortune, event, or circumstance.  A Tragedy is a fatal, lamentable, or disastrous event.  Priorities and their significance have distorted our views of reality and what is important in life.  The purpose of this book is to help people prioritize their lives, identify those priorities significance, isolate the difference between adversity and tragedy, while equipping them with a daily approach and attitude toward life.

Many studies have been conducted and literature produced surrounding the effects of No Child Left Behind (NCLB). This study examines the effects of NCLB and its impact on four rural southeastern Ohio school districts. Each district, classified as in need of improvement by the Ohio Department of Education, participated in the Ohio Improvement Process in an attempt to improve student achievement and meet the mandates of NCLB. The purpose of this study was to answer why school districts in rural southeast Ohio who have implemented the Ohio Improvement Process have various results on State assessments. A qualitative case study was conducted utilizing face-to-face interviews, examination of district report cards, collective bargaining agreements, district finances, and cultural influences. The method employed by the researcher to compile and filter the data gathered as a result of the interviews was hand-coding. Additional color-coding were used for commonality of terms. Overall, three themes, each with several sub-themes, emerged from the interview process.

Miller and his team interviewed leaders and employees from numerous world-class organizations, including the Navy SEALS, Starbucks, Apple, Southwest Airlines, the Seattle Seahawks, Mayo Clinic, Cirque du Soleil, and more. Mark Miller's innovative study argues that Chaucer's Canterbury Tales represent an extended mediation on agency, autonomy and practical reason. This philosophical aspect of Chaucer's interests can help us understand what is both sophisticated and disturbing about his explorations of love, sex and gender. Partly through fresh readings of the Consolation of Philosophy and the Romance of the Rose, Miller charts Chaucer's position in relation to the association in the Christian West between problems of autonomy and problems of sexuality and reconstructs how medieval philosophers and literary writers approached psychological phenomena often thought of as distinctively modern. The literary experiments of the Canterbury Tales represent a distinctive philosophical achievement that remains vital to our own attempts to understand agency, desire and their histories.

By the bestselling authors of The Secret (over 350,000 copies sold): the legendary Ken Blanchard and Mark Miller, a top executive at one of the most successful restaurant chains in the country.Identifies the specific ways leaders must grow - on the job and off - to remain inspiring and effective.Written for both established leaders looking to ensure their continued effectiveness and those who aspire to leadership.Successful leaders don't rest on their laurels. Leadership must be a living process, not a title on a business card, and life means growth. As Ken Blanchard and Mark Miller write in the introduction, ''the path to increased influence, impact, and leadership effectiveness is paved with personal growth. Our capacity to grow determines our capacity to lead. It's really that simple.'' Great Leaders Grow shows leaders and aspiring leaders precisely which areas to focus on so they can remain effective throughout their lives. As the book opens, Debbie Brewster, an accomplished leader herself, becomes a mentor to Blake, her late mentor's son, as he begins his career. Debbie tells Blake, ''How well you and I serve will be determined by the decision to grow or not. Will you be a leader who is always ready to face the next challenge? Or will you be a leader who tries to apply yesterday's solutions to today's problems? The latter will ultimately fail. The difference: the decision to grow. And not a short-term decision but a decision to grow throughout your career and throughout your life. This single decision is a game changer for leaders.''Over the next several weeks Debbie reveals what this means in practical terms. She and Blake explore four ways that leaders must continue to grow, both on the job and off, because who you are as a leader is inextricably connected to who you are as a person. Whether you're a CEO or an entry-level employee, you'll be inspired to reflect on your own life and to design your own unique long-term growth plan, leading to not only continuing professional success but personal fulfillment as well.

  • - Building a Leadership Culture (16pt Large Print Edition)
    von Mark Miller
    32,00 €

Leaders Made Here Building a Leadership Culture Every organization dreams of having enough leaders. Yet most take a haphazard or inconsistent approach to leadership development. They either assume they can find new leaders when they need them or they believe leaders are born-they can't be made. The consequences of this thinking are devastating, creating a perpetual shortfall of high caliber leaders; without them, no organization can thrive. The good news: this problem is solvable! Bestselling author and Chick-fil-A executive Mark Miller describes how any organization can create a culture in which leaders are routinely and systematically developed, resulting in a surplus of leaders. Miller details how to nurture leaders throughout the organization, from the front lines to the executive ranks. He provides a game plan for organizations to create a deep and effective leadership bench. To bring his ideas to life, Miller uses the story of Blake, a new CEO, and Charles, and old friend and colleague, as they search for best practices from around the world to ensure a continuous supply of their most precious asset-leaders. Blake and his team then translate their findings into a practical plan that any organization can use to create a leadership culture that will ensure a sustainable competitive advantage and long-term success.

  • - Becoming a Leader People Want to Follow (16pt Large Print Edition)
    von Mark Miller
    32,00 €

This short, easy-to-read fable reveals the five habits that underlie leadership character and that determine leaders' success - and teaches leaders how to develop these habits. Like Mark Miller's previous books, this one follows the life, learning, and influence of Debbie Bruster. Here she finds herself mentoring Blake Brown, the son of her former mentor. Rather than answer Blake's questions about leadership directly, Debbie introduces him to other leaders, each of whom shares a unique perspective on what really makes a leader successful. As Blake puts the pieces together, he discovers his problem is not one of skills but of character, that leadership is more about the heart of the leader than the head or hands. In fact, Miller summarized these traits with the acronym HEART: Hunger for Wisdom, Expect the Best, Accept Responsibility, Respond with Courage, and Think Others First. With the help of his new friends and mentors, Blake is able to build a plan to transform his heart. The good news for all of us: leadership is not just the purview of the few - it is within reach for millions of aspiring leaders around the world. This book is the road map they need to get their lives and careers on track.

    von Mark Miller

Toronto was Lonnie Johnson's last stop in a career of stops, at least the eighth city in which he lived for any length of time. The influential African-American singer and guitarist, a formative figure in the history of blues and jazz dating back to the 1920s, travelled north for a brief appearance at the New Gate of Cleve in May 1965 and returned for a longer engagement at the Penny Farthing in June. Over the next five years - the last five years of his life - he rarely left the city again. Way Down That Lonesome Road: Lonnie Johnson in Toronto, 1965-1970, the tenth book from noted Canadian jazz historian Mark Miller, reclaims Johnson from the realm of legend and brings him back to life. In part a biographical study and in part a social history, Way Down That Lonesome Road follows Johnson from the generous welcome that he received from Toronto's critics on his arrival and the successes and failures that followed.
