This book became necessary for me because my professional training, personal observations and industry experience created an awareness of the truths of the physical world. This could have put me at odds with my faith tradition and community worship. Community worship demanded a belief in the inspired, infallible and inerrant Word of God in the Holy Bible. My community worship was, and is, as an Evangelical Protestant. Evangelical Protestantism, is a worldwide, trans-denominational movement within Protestant Christianity which maintains the belief that the essence of the Gospel consists of the doctrine of salvation by grace through faith in Jesus Christ's atonement for our sin. Evangelicals believe in the centrality of the conversion or "born again" experience in receiving salvation, in the authority of the Bible as God's revelation to humanity, and in spreading the Christian message. In my mind, the "belief in the authority of the Bible" did not encompass worship of the Bible. My worship has been directed at the Creator of the Universe, my Creator and ultimate Redeemer, Jesus Christ. I did not have any problems with the Bible but, I did have problems with the Fundamentalist literal interpretation of its contents, in particular, that professed by the Young Earth Creation sect. In my professional career, my eyes had seen physical evidence of a much older earth and mathematical computations that supported that observation. However, this did not rule out a spiritual belief. I was not going to let the physical corrupt the spiritual or vice versa. The older earth concept, cosmology, mathematics and scientific visualization all point to a beginning, and so does the Bible. A beginning of the cosmos raises the question: "What came before that beginning, before time began?"

This book is intended to outline an approach for the Republican party to take to prepare for 2020 and 2024. It presents a proposal for the Republican party to assume the mantle of the Common-Sense party, begin an adult to adult conversation with Millennials and perhaps prevent a war. Today a generational conflict is looming, but it isn't a physical conflict. It is a battle of ideologies, the inherent, inalienable right of Individual Freedom enshrined in the American Declaration of Independence and U. S. Constitution versus an overarching State or Collective where there is no Individual Freedom., an ideology called Democratic Socialism or Marxism. Republicans need to sell the idea that they are the party of Common-Sense but they need to do this on all the mainstream media outlets and social media platforms, the real information source of the Millennial Generation. They will not be able to do this if they don't unite around the core values of the American Heartland. This new book by Dr. Martin Capages Jr., author of Why the Green New Deal is a Bad Deal for America defines the problem and presents an approach to resolve the underlying issues.

The Silent Second: The Biography of Martin Capages, Captain USMC is a personal history of a U. S. Marine officer in the Second Marine Division from his enlisted service before World War II, the battle for Okinawa, and with the First Marine Division in Korea. It includes a look into the life of a typical Marine Corps brat from a child's point of view. This is the story of career Marine, a proud member of the Second Marine Division during World War II who also served in the First Marine Division in Korea. It includes some detail on an important assignment successfully completed by the Silent Second in World War II with little fanfare. That was the initial intent of this biography, written by the son of that Marine, which begins at the final stages of planning for Operation Iceberg, code name for the Battle for Okinawa. While there is an overwhelming amount of documentation on this battle, in particular, the role of the 1st and 6th Marine Divisions' and the Army's action at Okinawa, the Silent Second's role is a footnote in history. This book is intended to correct that oversight and honor those of the Silent Second who gave their all on 1 April 1945.
