Training manual ¿Modern Operating Systems - Software for Computers and Media Devices¿ was prepared for foreign students studying graduate and undergraduate programs at Moscow Polytechnical University and other state universities in Russia. The aim of the manual is to improve training of students in the field of computer science and information technology. The study materials, presented in the publication, comply with the State Educational Standard for training of third-generation bachelors and masters and are intended to improve practical training in the following specialties: computer science and information technology, information systems and technology, journalism, publishing and editing. The manual provides theoretical information and practical recommendations for individual work using modern computers, tablets, smartphones and other mobile devices. In the process of completing practical tasks, appropriate free or specially configured licensed software is used.

The objectives of mastering the discipline "Information systems in publishing" are - to form students' theoretical knowledge of modern information technologies, models, methods and means of solving functional tasks and organizing information processes, studying the organizational, functional and physical structure of basic information technologies and basic information processes, consideration of the prospects for the use of information technology in the transition to the information society. Private goals are teaching practical skills of working on personal computers using modern information technologies for computer processing of text, graphic and multimedia information and their subsequent use in publishing. The main task of studying the discipline is mastering the methods: - studying the organizational, functional and physical structure of information systems and information technologies, basic information processes in modern information systems used in publishing.

Cele opanowania dyscypliny "Systemy informatyczne w wydawnictwie" to - ksztätowanie u studentów wiedzy teoretycznej o nowoczesnych technologiach informatycznych, modelach, metodach i sposobach rozwi¿zywania zadä funkcjonalnych i organizacji procesów informacyjnych, badanie struktury organizacyjnej, funkcjonalnej i fizycznej podstawowych technologii informatycznych i podstawowych procesów informacyjnych, rozwäanie perspektyw wykorzystania technologii informatycznych w przej¿ciu do spo¿ecze¿stwa informacyjnego. Cele prywatne to ksztäcenie praktycznych umiej¿tno¿ci pracy na komputerach osobistych z wykorzystaniem nowoczesnych technologii informatycznych do komputerowego przetwarzania informacji tekstowych, graficznych i multimedialnych oraz ich pó¿niejszego wykorzystania w wydawnictwie.

The abstract of the lectures on the discipline "Information Technologies and Computing Systems" is intended for full-time, full-time and part-time and correspondence students of technical departments of the Moscow Polytechnic and is profile-oriented, although the possibility of using it in other educational institutions, in the system of training masters also additional and second higher education. The manual gives a summary of the general provisions on the basic concepts of modern information technology (IT). The manual includes test questions for self-examination of knowledge on the material obtained. This provides a deeper and more detailed study of the proposed topics and a better consolidation of the material being studied. The course consists of fifteen lectures, chapters, sequentially describing the basic concepts of IT, the architecture of electronic computers and the main devices of modern computing and information systems (IS). Each chapter contains a theoretical description of the topic under consideration, as well as drawings and diagrams. This tutorial includes applications. Appendix A - contains a brief alphabetical index of the basic concepts of this course.

A few years ago, communication in computer networks was considered the lot of young people, however, at the moment people of almost all ages use various computer networks to one degree or another, 90% of Internet users are also users of at least one social network. Of people over the age of 50, only 28% do not have a single account on social networks. In the modern world, the popularity of online publications is constantly growing. To some extent, this is associated with the development of technical means that ensure the transfer of information. Internet media compete with print media and television in the first place in the area of ¿¿prompt information. Journalists working for online publications are located all over the world. Paper carrier for humans is still an important part of life. At the same time, the most popular print media will undoubtedly develop online versions of their publications. Thus, the Internet editions will become not so much competing with print editions, as complementing the information provided. The manual is aimed at training modern journalists for new electronic media.
