Democratic behaviour is becoming less and less self-evident. For vulnerable social groups in particular, participation in democratic processes and decisions is hardly part of their everyday lives. This volume uses specific project examples to show how approaches to social space development and organisation can support the democratisation of everyday life.

This book discusses the results of an international project about new ways of organising health information. The project Chance ¿ Community Health Management to Enhance Behaviour ¿ based on the preliminary assumption that a local community¿s structure determines the perception of health information and health promotion in a specific way. Therefore the relevance of space in dailylife was the starting point for an interdisciplinary research in six European countries with very different frames of health systems.As it is obvious that knowledge of a healthy lifestyle is one essential factor for its implementation, the multiple offers of health information and education have their justification. But, the most effective offers are those that relate to a local community¿s specific needs. This book shows different ways to install tailored local projects. The main important keywords are participation, local networks and social cohesion. The idea of a ¿Community Health Management¿ outlined in the last chapter, is to change the perspective of health work.The project was funded in the EU Lifelong Learning Programme Grundtvig over two years. Here are presented the main results for stakeholders, students and researchers.

Dass die demografische Entwicklung in Deutschland nicht nur von Fragen der Überalterung verbunden mit explodierenden Pflegekosten geprägt ist ¿ unsere Gesellschaft also nicht nur ¿weniger¿ und ¿älter¿, sondern längst auch ¿bunter¿ als Beschreibung der Folge von Zuwanderungen geworden ist, wurde bisher selten gemeinsam betrachtet. Das wissenschaftliche Zentrum CeSSt ¿ Centre of Research for Society and Sustainability der Hochschule Fulda hat deshalb im Jahr 2013 dem Thema eine Fachtagung gewidmet, deren Beiträge und Diskussionsergebnisse in diesem Band zusammengestellt wurden. Dabei wurden gleich mehrere Dimensionen sozialer Nachhaltigkeit in den Blick genommen, die in der interdisziplinären Nachaltigkeitsforschung eine besondere Rolle spielen: Neben den Fragen von Generationengerechtigkeit und sozialem Ausgleich sind gerade Aspekte von Teilhabe und Partizipation bedeutsam.Anlass der Tagung waren zunächst die Ergebnisse des vom BMBF geförderten Forschungsprojekts ¿AMIQUS ¿ Ältere MigrantInnen im Quartier: Stützung und Initiierung von Netzwerken der Selbstorganisation und Selbsthilfe¿, das von 2009 bis 2012 in Wiesbaden, Fulda und München umgesetzt wurde. Für diese Diskussion wurden weitere Praxisforschungsprojekte vorgestellt, die mit dem Ziel ¿Soziale Innovationen für mehr Lebensqualität im Alter¿ zu entwickeln, entstanden sind und aus einer sozialräumlichen und partizipativen Perspektive die Lebenssituation älterer Menschen in der Stadt untersucht haben.
