Looking at the "last words" of some of our New Testament books, this book considers their purpose and message. Focusing on the Gospels and Acts, the author finds that the ending of each narrative is carefully crafted, in order to pick up some of the themes spelt out earlier in the book.

Shows how important the beginnings of the four Gospels are. If rightly read they help the reader to make sense of what follows, but because they come from such a different culture it is easy to miss some of the indications they give.

This book explores what mission and discipleship meant for some of the earliest Christian communities. It is based on the Hugh Price Hughes Lectures in the West London Mission.
