Doch in Im Osten der Träume reflektiert die Anthropologin nun die ganze Geschichte ihrer Zeit mit den Even. Nach ihrer Feldforschung bei den Gwich'in in Alaska erscheint es Martin notwendig, sich auf die andere Seite der Beringstraße und des ehemaligen Eisernen Vorhangs zu begeben.
