Neil started photographing live gigs in 1978 and produced freelance work for NME, Sounds and Record Mirror. After a break from live photography of 20 years he returned to the London live scene with a digital camera in 2006. He has been published widely in periodicals as diverse as The Morning Star and Oxfordshire Life. He also produced his own photo fanzine - the Poser - which John Peel described as 'worth getting hold of'. Recently New York specialist bookseller Harper's Books described the Poser as 'influential UK punk 'zine' and the content as 'arresting photographs'. In January 2014 I spent a few days in Paris staying with a friend who was renting an apartment on the Boulevard Saint-Germain. Whilst there I visited the Brassai exhibition at the Hotel de Ville and dined at Le Temps des cerises (18, rue de la Butte aux Cailles). The graffiti photographs were taken in the area of the restaurant. After I returned to London I carelessly went to a gig in Waterloo the night before it was actually scheduled. As the night was clear and dry I decided to take a few photos on a walk from Waterloo to Tottenham Court Road. The photos in Paris were taken on my Leica D-Lux 4 and the photos in London on my Nikon D700 with a 50mm f1.4 lens at 6400asa.
