Puis, je remontai l¿Indus jusqüà Raval Pindi, parcourus le Pendjab, pays des cinq fleuves, visitai le temple d¿or d¿Amritsa, le tombeau du roi de Pendjab, Randjid- Singh, près de Lahor, et me dirigeai vers le Kachmyr, « vallée du bonheur éternel ». Là, je recommençai mes pérégrinations au gré de ma curiosité jusqüà ce que j¿arrivai au Ladak, d¿où j¿avais formé l¿intention de revenir en Russie par le Karakoroum et le Turkestan chinois."
