The American Republic: Its Constitution, Tendencies, And Destiny. This book is a result of an effort made by us towards making a contribution to the preservation and repair of original classic literature. In an attempt to preserve, improve and recreate the original content, we have worked towards:1. Type-setting & Reformatting: The complete work has been re-designed via professional layout, formatting and type-setting tools to re-create the same edition with rich typography, graphics, high quality images, and table elements, giving our readers the feel of holding a 'fresh and newly' reprinted and/or revised edition, as opposed to other scanned & printed (Optical Character Recognition - OCR) reproductions.2. Correction of imperfections: As the work was re-created from the scratch, therefore, it was vetted to rectify certain conventional norms with regard to typographical mistakes, hyphenations, punctuations, blurred images, missing content/pages, and/or other related subject matters, upon our consideration. Every attempt was made to rectify the imperfections related to omitted constructs in the original edition via other references. However, a few of such imperfections which could not be rectified due to intentional\unintentional omission of content in the original edition, were inherited and preserved from the original work to maintain the authenticity and construct, relevant to the work.We believe that this work holds historical, cultural and/or intellectual importance in the literary works community, therefore despite the oddities, we accounted the work for print as a part of our continuing effort towards preservation of literary work and our contribution towards the development of the society as a whole, driven by our beliefs. We are grateful to our readers for putting their faith in us and accepting our imperfections with regard to preservation of the historical content. HAPPY READING!

  • - The US Government and Constitution; its Tendencies and Destiny (Hardcover)
    von Orestes Augustus Brownson
    33,00 €

Orestes Brownson's thought-provoking thesis on the US government, the Constitution of the United States, and the ultimate destiny of the USA, remains as incisive and intellectually rich today as when it was first published.Combining history with political philosophy, Brownson casts his analytical gaze to the inception of the American nation. Using a wide variety of documents, including those authored by the Founding Fathers prior to and following the creation of the United States, the author attempts to demonstrate how religion and politics are interrelated - in the case of America's founding, both had roles. Writing in the mid-19th century, Orestes Brownson attempts to clarify what the nature of the U.S. government is, and how the Constitution reflects it. Various natural laws, such as those pertaining to the family and human development of civilization, are examined. Part of Brownson's conclusion is the idea religion must continue to play a role in the USA, just as it has since the colonial era.

    von Orestes Augustus Brownson

Author and public intellectual Orestes Augustus Brownson wrote this lively commentary on the history of Christianity as the religion became more established in the United States. The rapid establishment of new churches and congregations upon the frontier was a feature of the westward expansion in North America during the 19th century. Writing in 1836, Brownson offers a vivid history of the religion in the context of its establishment in the USA, his views upon its beliefs and core philosophies, and whether the church of his day accurately reflects the original teachings of Jesus Christ.Written as a narrative from a perspective of a man in search of spiritual fulfillment, New Views of Christianity sees Brownson draw contrasts and distinctions between different denominations and groups who term themselves Christian. He goes on to identify several important areas where religion has historically been influential - education in particular is highlighted as being of great importance.
