El complejo lúpico eritematoso es una dermatopatía autoinmune caracterizada por un trastorno del sistema inmunitario de los animales afectados. Se presenta en dos formas clínicas: lupus eritematoso discoide y lupus eritematoso sistémico, siendo la primera su forma más leve. Aún no existe una etiopatogenia definida, pero se sugiere una predisposición genética y trastornos inmunológicos en los animales afectados. Es gibt zwei klinische Formen: den diskoiden Lupus erythematodes und den systemischen Lupus erythematodes, wobei der erstere die mildere Form ist. Die Ätiopathogenese ist noch nicht geklärt, es wird jedoch eine genetische Veranlagung und immunologische Störungen bei den betroffenen Tieren vermutet. Lupus erythematodes ist eine unheilbare Krankheit, aber ihre Anzeichen und Symptome können mit der richtigen Behandlung verzögert werden.
