This book, dedicated to Professor Georgi M. Dimirovski on his anniversary, contains new research directions, challenges, and many relevant applications related to many aspects within the broadly perceived areas of systems and control, including signal analysis and intelligent systems. The project comprises two volumes with papers written by well known and very active researchers and practitioners. The first volume is focused on more foundational aspects related to general issues in systems science and mathematical systems, various problems in control and automation, and the use of computational and artificial intelligence in the context of systems modeling and control. The second volume is concerned with a presentation of relevant applications, notably in robotics, computer networks, telecommunication, fault detection/diagnosis, as well as in biology and medicine, and economic, financial, and social systems too.

Jump Time-Delay Systems (JTDS) represent a new class of piece-wise deterministic systems, in which the underlying dynamics is governed by delay-differential equations and it possesses multiple modes of operation depending on the value of an associated Markov random process. This book is about the time-domain modeling, stability, stabilization, control design and filtering for JTDS. It gives readers a thorough understanding of the basic mathematical analysis and fundamentals of JTDS. Additionally, it offers a straightforward treatment of the different topics and provides a broad coverage of the recent methodologies. The prime concern has been on the interplay between delay factors, jumping behavior and parametric uncertainties. The cases of single and interconnected JTDS are considered and numerous examples are worked out. The relationship to previous results on time-delay systems (TDS) and Markovian jump systems (MJS) are revealed.

This book presents recent theoretical advances in the analysis and synthesis of discrete-time switched systems under the time-dependent switching scheme, including stability and disturbance attenuation performance analysis, control and filtering, asynchronous switching, finite-time analysis and synthesis, and reachable set estimation.

The book also contains nonlinear constrained tracking control via terminal sliding-mode control and adaptive robust theory, presenting controller design of active suspensions as well as the reliability control of active suspension systems.
