Buch beschreibt Vergil den Abstieg Aeneas' in die Unterwelt, wo er durch Anchises von der künftigen Größe und dem Geschichtsauftrag Roms, der Stadt, die aus seiner Gründung entstehen wird, erfährt.Der Klassische Philologe und Religionshistoriker Eduard Norden (1868 - 1941) hatte zwei große Interessen - die Religionswissenschaft und die Rhetorik. Seine Übersetzung und Erklärung des 6. Buches der "Aeneis" hat auch heute noch nichts von ihrer Bedeutung verloren.Nachdruck der Originalausgabe aus dem Jahr 1903.
