En 1832, pendant un court séjour à Alger, Delacroix a l¿occasion devisiter un harem. Inspiré par cette expérience orientale, il peint la toile intitulée«Femmes d¿Alger dans leur appartement» qui montre quatre femmes dont deuxsont assises, la troisième à demi allongée et la quatrième est une servante. Cespersonnages à la fois présents et lointains donnent l¿impression d¿être desprisonnières résignées d¿un lieu clos qui s¿éclaire d¿une sorte de lumière derêve venue de nulle part.En 1849, Delacroix décrit une seconde version des Femme d¿Alger. Lacomposition est à peu près identique, mais cette fois-ci les traits despersonnages sont plus précis, les éléments du décor moins fouillés, l¿angle devision s¿est élargi. Quelques années plus tard, Picasso poursuit l¿idée du secondtableau de Delacroix et transforme les femmes emprisonnées en porteuses debombes. (cf. D¿un côté, nous voyons la vie quotidienne dela femme algérienne avant la guerre d¿indépendance, et de l¿autre, sa situationpendant et surtout après la guerre.[...]

The species that had adapted best obtained the greatest chance to prevail in this ¿combat¿. In exactly the same way we can consider the history of mankind as a surviving of the fittest.Nowadays it is not the physique alone that decides if somebody gets above the others or not. It¿s more or less the right combination of certain abilities, ambitions and values that make up the secret of success. Nevertheless we can still talk about a kind of natural selection. Although skills and knowledge can be trained, and abilities and competences can be improved by means of special learning methods, somebody who wants to be at the top must already have a certain biological and genetic qualification.Willy Loman, the main character of the play Death of a Salesman, is a salesman past sixty years of age. In his youth he believes that he has found the secret to success .Willy is convinced that he will make it if he tries his luck in the business and starts his career in a selling firm. He never has any doubt about achieving his aim as he is of the opinion to have all traits of character and competences he needs. But in reality Willy can be considered as a looser and a poor guy who only claims himself to be at the top. He brings up his two boys in these illusions and is assured of having chosen the right way.The paper deals on the one hand with the main character of the play himself, his dreams, illusions and wrong values that finally lead to his failure and suicide. On the other hand it treats the influence that these illusions exert on his two boys and their wrong upbringing.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich Dolmetschen / Übersetzen, Note: 3,0, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, Veranstaltung: Phantastische Erzählungen in Frankreich, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In unzähligen literarischen Werken kann man feststellen, dass einige Worte aus anderen Sprachen in den Text aufgenommen wurden. Oft geschah dies aufgrund der Vorherrschaft einer Nation, die zu einem Einfluss in verschiedensten Gebieten andere Nationen führte. In anderen Fällen, kann Grund für die Aufnahme von Wörtern einer bestimmten Sprache, deren Beliebtheit zu einer bestimmten Epoche sein.Théophile Gautier verwendet in seinem Werk ¿Jettaturä zahlreiche italienische Wörter, die er genauso gut in seiner Muttersprache, nämlich dem Französischen hätte ausdrücken können. Nun stellt sich schließlich die Frage, warum er dies tut.In der folgenden Arbeit sollen die Verwendung italienischer Wörter und Wendungen in Gautiers Erzählung ¿Jettaturä im Mittelpunkt stehen. Hierbei soll als Erstes der Grund für die Auswahl von Neapel als Schauplatz dieser phantastischen Erzählung genannt werden.Danach wird im Allgemeinen auf Erklärungen italienischer Wörter eingegangen. Im Vordergrund werden hierbei zunächst die Begriffe ¿Jettaturä und ¿Forestier¿ stehen. Daraufhin werden Gründe für das Vorkommen der italienischen Sprache in der ¿Jettaturä veranschaulicht und kontextorientierte Deutungen italienischer im Alltag verwendeter Worte folgen.Hiernach wird zur Symbolik zweier Familien- und einem Personennamen übergegangen werden.Abschließend soll eine Interpretation des im Roman vorkommenden Zitats ¿Vedi Napoli e poi mori¿ folgen.Der Arbeit liegt der Originaltext von Théophile Gautiers ¿Jettaturä zugrunde. An einigen Stellen greife ich jedoch auf die Übersetzung ins Deutsche von Alastair zurück.
