Jack Webb had starred as Sergeant Joe Friday in a TV series that ran from 1951-59. In 1966, Webb relaunched the series with a pilot film Called Dragnet. The story started with the classical theme music, followed by narration which stated the story was true (based on fact) and the names of people were changed "to protect the innocent."
