The Preen Family History Study Group exists to research the history of the Preen Family. They also publish books such as this one and meet every year in a place where some part of the Preen family lived in earlier centuries. In June 2010, it was the 21st such reunion and the meeting was held in Parlors Hall, Mill Street, Bridgnorth.A recent DNA study has shown that the Preen family is divided into three main groups. The one we call the "Bridgnorth Group" has as its common ancestors Frank Preen and his wife Fanny who lived in Mills Street, Bridgnorth during the seventeenth century and so lived through the Civil War and the siege of Bridgnorth castle. Some of their descendants lived in Bridgnorth while others moved to Birmingham or the Black Country.

This year they chose to meet in Hartpury village hall and to spotlight the Preens of Maisemore (F22).A recent DNA study has shown that the Preen family is divided into three main groups. The one we call the "Kings Stanley Group" has as its common ancestors John Preen and his wife Ursula who lived in Kings Stanley in the second half of the seventeenth century. Their descendants remained in the area and many of them worked in the wollen mills.

The one we call the "Cardington Group" has as its common ancestors Philip Preen and his wife Mary who lived in Hope Bowdler in the second half of the seventeenth century.Some of their descendants moved to Cardington in the late eighteenth century and their story has been told in "The Preens of Cardington Part One". This traces them to James and Priscilla Preen who died in 1911 and discusses some of their children.Three of the children who remained in Cardington are described in this book. They are Elizabeth (1854-1923), Edwin (1859-1936) and Albert (1871-1955) and their families. In 2011, The Preen Family Reunion was again held in Cardington and this booklet remembers them.

For many years, this meeting place was the village of Cardington (near Church Stretton in Shropshire) which was the home of many members of the family.A recent DNA study has shown that the Preen family is divided into three main groups. The one we call the "Cardington Group" has as its common ancestors Philip Preen and his wife Mary who lived in Hope Bowdler in the second half of the seventeenth century. Some of their descendants moved to Cardington in the late eighteenth century and this book tells their story. John and Hannah Preen had four sons, each of whom had a large family. Their second son William Preen (c1798-1877) lived in Cardington and his James Preen (1829-1911) also lived there with his wife Priscilla George.

In 2000, as part of an M.A. course in Birmingham University, I made a study of place-names in Shropshire ending in "-ford". The resulting dissertation has now been edited and presented in this booklet. It describes the 64 place visited with place-names ending in -ford and discusses their relevance to the road system and the settlement pattern. Since the relation of these place-names to the Roman roads in Shropshire is an important part of the study, a summary of what is known about Roman Roads in Shropshire is also included.

In 2013, the reunion was held in Coalport Village Hall close to Preens Eddy. This book discusses the origin of the name Preens Eddy and the Preens associated with it as well as the other sights in the vicinity. At our reunion, we visited places associated with this family and heard about their life and times. This booklet remembers them.

In 2012, the reunion was held in Leebotwood, a small Shropshire village on the main road between Shrewsbury and Church Stretton, which had been home to one family of Preens. Richard Preen and his wife Sarah moved into Leebotwood around 1845 and the family remained there for the next hundred years. At our reunion, we visited places associated with this family and heard about their life and times. This booklet remembers them.
