For the essays in this two-volume 1861 work, Wright draws on sources ranging from medieval charters to modern linguistic studies, as well as the remains and artefacts uncovered by his own and others' excavations. Volume 1 considers prehistoric finds, aspects of Roman Britain, and the Anglo-Saxon and late medieval period.

A respected folklorist and medievalist, Thomas Wright (1810-77) wrote prolifically on a wide range of subjects. This two-volume dictionary, published in 1857, aimed to help readers to navigate unfamiliar vocabulary in historical literature and gives definitions, etymologies and illustrative examples. Volume 1 covers letters A-F.

Both an amateur astronomer and a strongly religious man, Thomas Wright (1711-86) is known for his description of the Milky Way as disc-shaped. The various claims he made, based on a combination of his observations and his religious beliefs, are given in this illustrated and influential work of 1750.

This two-volume 1851 publication is testimony to his interest in folklore, sorcery and legend. Volume 1 gives instances of alleged witchcraft from sixteenth-century Europe.

This book contains a collection of political verses, venality satires and songs of social protest from medieval England. First edited by Thomas Wright in 1839, these so-called 'political songs' are reissued here on behalf of the Royal Historical Society, with a wide-ranging introduction from Peter Coss.
