Ce livre traite essentiellement d'une étude expérimentale menée dans le but d'évaluer et de comparer la réactivité des tissus et les caractéristiques de manipulation des sutures en boyau chromique, en soie et en fil 'jimat' dans le muscle de la cuisse du chat. En raison de la non-disponibilité et du coût élevé des matériaux de suture conventionnels, la plupart des vétérinaires d'Éthiopie utilisent le matériau de suture extrait localement, facilement accessible et le moins cher, à savoir le "jimat". Mais jusqu'à présent, aucune étude n'a été entreprise sur la réaction et l'acceptabilité des tissus en tant que matériel de suture au niveau national. Au total, 36 chats mâles de race locale ont été sélectionnés et des sutures ont été implantées sur le muscle biceps fémoral. Les échantillons de muscle avec sa suture ont été prélevés à six jours d'intervalle et traités histopathologiquement pour évaluer le degré d'infiltration leucocytaire et la formation de tissu fibreux et de granulation. Les résultats ont montré que le matériel de suture 'jimat' avait produit moins d'infiltration leucocytaire que les sutures en boyau chromique et en soie. Ce livre aidera les chercheurs, les vétérinaires et les étudiants en médecine vétérinaire à obtenir des informations adéquates sur la réactivité tissulaire de ce fil.

Questo libro tratta essenzialmente di uno studio sperimentale condotto allo scopo di valutare e confrontare la reattività tissutale e le caratteristiche di manipolazione della sutura di budello cromico, seta e materiali di sutura "jimat" nel muscolo della coscia di gatto. A causa dell'indisponibilità e del costo dei materiali di sutura convenzionali, la maggior parte dei veterinari in Etiopia utilizza materiali di sutura estratti localmente, facilmente accessibili e più economici: lo "jimat". Finora, però, non sono stati condotti studi sulla sua reazione e sulla sua accettabilità da parte dei tessuti come materiale di sutura a livello nazionale. Sono stati selezionati 36 gatti maschi di razza locale e sono state impiantate suture sul muscolo bicipite femorale. I campioni di muscolo con la relativa sutura sono stati raccolti a sei giorni di distanza ed esaminati istopatologicamente per valutare il grado di infiltrazione leucocitaria e la formazione di tessuto fibroso e di granulazione. I risultati hanno mostrato che il materiale di sutura "jimat" ha prodotto una minore infiltrazione leucocitaria rispetto alle suture in budello cromico e seta. Questo libro aiuterà i ricercatori, i veterinari e gli studenti di veterinaria a ottenere informazioni adeguate sulla reattività tissutale di questo filo.

Este libro trata básicamente de un estudio experimental realizado con el objetivo de evaluar y comparar la reactividad tisular y las características de manipulación de los materiales de sutura de tripa crómica, seda y "jimat" en el músculo del muslo del gato. Debido a la falta de disponibilidad y al elevado coste de los materiales de sutura convencionales, la mayoría de los veterinarios de Etiopía utilizan el material de sutura más barato, de fácil acceso y extraído localmente, el "jimat". Pero hasta ahora no se han realizado estudios sobre su reacción y aceptabilidad por parte de los tejidos como material de sutura a nivel nacional. Se seleccionaron 36 gatos machos de razas locales y se implantaron suturas en el músculo bíceps femoral. Se recogieron muestras de músculo con su sutura en intervalos de seis días diferentes y se procesaron histopatológicamente para evaluar el grado de infiltración leucocítica y la formación de tejido fibroso y de granulación. El resultado mostró que el material de sutura "jimat" había producido menos infiltración leucocítica que las suturas de tripa crómica y seda. Este libro ayudará a investigadores, veterinarios archivados y estudiantes de veterinaria a obtener información adecuada sobre la reactividad tisular de este hilo.

In diesem Buch geht es im Wesentlichen um eine experimentelle Studie, die mit dem Ziel durchgeführt wurde, die Gewebereaktivität und die Handhabungseigenschaften von Nahtmaterial aus Chromdarm, Seide und "Jimat" im Oberschenkelmuskel der Katze zu bewerten und zu vergleichen. Da herkömmliche Nahtmaterialien nicht verfügbar und teuer sind, verwenden die meisten Tierärzte in Äthiopien lokal gewonnenes, leicht zugängliches und billigstes Nahtmaterial, nämlich "Jimat". Bisher wurden jedoch auf nationaler Ebene keine Studien über die Reaktion und Akzeptanz des Gewebes als Nahtmaterial durchgeführt. Insgesamt wurden 36 männliche Katzen lokaler Rassen ausgewählt und Nähte in den Musculus biceps femoris eingepflanzt. Die Muskelproben mit dem Nahtmaterial wurden im Abstand von sechs Tagen entnommen und histopathologisch untersucht, um den Grad der leukozytären Infiltration und der Bildung von Faser- und Granulationsgewebe zu beurteilen. Das Ergebnis zeigte, dass das Nahtmaterial "Jimat" die geringste Leukozyteninfiltration im Vergleich zu Chromdarm- und Seidennähten aufwies. Dieses Buch wird Forschern, Tierärzten und Tiermedizinstudenten helfen, angemessene Informationen über die Gewebereaktivität dieses Fadens zu erhalten.

Devido à indisponibilidade e ao custo elevado dos materiais de sutura convencionais, a maioria dos veterinários na Etiópia utiliza materiais de sutura extraídos localmente, facilmente acessíveis e mais baratos, nomeadamente o "jimat". No entanto, até à data, não foram realizados estudos sobre a sua reação e aceitabilidade pelo tecido como material de sutura a nível nacional. Foram seleccionados 36 gatos machos de raças locais e foram implantadas suturas no músculo bíceps femoris. As amostras de músculo com a respectiva sutura foram recolhidas com seis dias de intervalo e processadas histopatologicamente para avaliar o grau de infiltração leucocitária e a formação de tecido fibroso e de granulação. Os resultados mostraram que o material de sutura "jimat" produziu menos infiltração leucocitária do que as suturas de tripa crómica e de seda. Este livro ajudará os investigadores, veterinários e estudantes de veterinária a obter informações adequadas sobre a reatividade tecidular deste fio.

This book basically deals about the knowledge, attitude and practice of the community of Debark district towards rabies. Even if there were reports of death of humans and animals in the study area, no prior studies were undertaken about the prevalence and public awareness towards rabies. For this cross-sectional study, a simple and systematic random sampling procedure was employed to select households. A structured questionnaire was used to collect the data through face-to-face interviews among 422 respondents. Generally, the findings indicated that community of Debark district has good knowledge about rabies. However, a need for further awareness creation on the attitude and practice for appropriate prevention and treatment measure. This book should help the Ministry of Health, Federal Ministry of Livestock and fishery resource of Ethiopia to design policies that will fill the gap on attitude and practice of the community and thereby to eradicate this disease from the study area. In addition, researchers, Veterinarians, public health professional and NGO¿s working on zoonotic disease will get adequate information about the current status of the disease in Debark district.

This book basically deals about an experimental study conducted with the aim of evaluating and comparing the tissue reactivity and suture handling characteristics of chromic gut, silk and ¿jimat¿ suture materials in cat thigh muscle. Due to the non-availability and expensiveness of conventional suture materials most of the veterinarians in Ethiopia used locally extracted, easily accessible and cheapest suture material namely ¿jimat¿. But so far no studies have been undertaken about its reaction and acceptability by the tissue as a suture material at national level. A total of 36 local breed male cats were selected and sutures were implanted on the biceps femoris muscle. The muscle samples with its suture were collected at six different days interval and processed histopathologically to assess the degree of leucocytic infiltration and fibrous and granulation tissue formation. The result showed that ¿jimat¿ suture material had produced least leucocytic infiltration than chromic gut and silk sutures.
