This is a compelling true story of a young boy born and raised in poverty in Oklahoma. He struggled in school, especially in reading and math. It was his mother who helped him learn reading and math, not his teachers. Fighting in order to protect himself resulted in several "paddling's" and other disciplinary actions at school. Facing the possibility of being sent to a delinquent home for boys, he devised a plan where he would catch a train going north with King, a dog, who he promised would never be a stray dog again. He had even practiced jumping a boxcar while the train was moving! He would miss his family, but he was not going to the place for delinquent boys. In the fifth grade, with the help of his mother, he started turning things around. He accelerated to the top of his class in all subjects. Not only was he top of his class academically, but also, he burgeoned in sports. He played on the seventh- and eighth-grade basketball and baseball teams when he was only in the fifth grade. He loved reading about medicine, rockets, math, and the universe, among other subjects. When he told his counselor and teachers that he wanted to become a doctor, he was encouraged to go into something else. Again, it was his mother that encouraged him to follow his dreams. With his poor education, it was doubtful his dreams would come to fruition. Still, he never gave up on his dreams. Through hard work and perseverance, his dreams come true.

Es geht weiter mit meiner alternativen, aussergewöhnlichen und spektakulären Autobiographie, meinem Ritt durch die Hölle und zurück, der eigentlich mehr einem kranken Psychothriller gleicht und dieser Band ist sogar noch stärker von einem Hauch Verschwörung umgeben.Weil ich im ersten Teil erst inmitten der Hölle angelangt war, geht's in dieser Runde erst richtig los und um an die wahren Strippenzieher und Verursacher meines Horrortrips zu gelangen, musste ich noch einmal quer durchs Inferno reisen, wodurch die Verschwörung auch erst erkennbar wird.In diesem zweiten Band wird es allerdings auch eine unerwartete Wendung geben, obwohl sie zunächst jedoch kaum ersichtlich ist und zudem war das Martyrium auch noch nicht überstanden. Denn es kam noch eine weitere grosse Lehrerin in mein Leben, die mich noch bewusster, noch konsequenter und noch stärker machte, doch dafür musste ich mich noch einmal von neuem beweisen.Schnall dich also an und mach dich bereit für eine Fortsetzung die noch brutaler, noch befähigender, noch dramatischer, noch erotischer, noch hinterhältiger, noch kranker, noch motivierender, noch mysteriöser und genauso unvorstellbar ist wie Teil 1.Ich will darum nur noch sagen, hau rein und viel Spass!Til we die!

La Patrie soviétique de 9 écrivains Juifs russes, constitue, après l'Ode à la France de 9 écrivains Français-juifs, puis 9 écrivains Juifs allemands ou Allemands juifs, le troisième volet du triptyque d'un univers peu exploré  : l'étude de neuf auteurs d'origine juive confrontés aux nationalistes, aux germanistes et aux communistes de leur pays.    Le pouvoir soviétique ne voulant pas admettre la fonction critique de la littérature, sanctionne les auteurs indociles par une répression implacable. La question juive demeurée centrale, il faut aux neuf écrivains juifs russes ici présents, en tant que communistes, trouver un juste équilibre de compromis avec le pouvoir, sans aller trop loin dans la complaisance, la lâcheté ou la trahison, mais assez loin pour sauver leur honneur, leur survie et leurs ¿uvres.  Ilya Ehrenbourg confie volontiers que «  si, en Union Soviétique, les écrivains sont encore vivants, c'est qu'ils sont les plus grands acrobates du monde  ». Tandis qu'Isaac Babel, éminent virtuose du verbe, ses reportages de haute voltige exécutés sans filet, est arraché brusquement de la vie par un ultime dérapage. Barthélémy Bertoux, né en 1882, est mon grand-père maternel. Il vivra chichement comme d¿innombrables petits cultivateurs morvandiaux. Extrêmement doué, il a toujours été conscient de l¿importance de l¿école. Marié en 1904, il perdra sa première fille de poliomyélite. Ma mère naîtra en 1910 et fera le bonheur de ses parents. Elle deviendra institutrice dans le Morvan puis à Paris, où elle finira directrice d¿école et de collège.1914 ; c¿est la mobilisation, l¿infanterie, la tranchée. Il est réformé en 1917. De retour, il reprend sa ferme, s¿endette pour en assurer le fonctionnement. Ma grand-mère meurt en 1942 pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Patriote, ardent radicaliste, il va aider au maximum la résistance et les maquis, avec intelligence, discrétion, générosité. Resté seul après la guerre, il meurt en 1951. Je lui dois reconnaissance et affection.

Pierre-Claver  Ndahayo  est une des grandes figures de la révolution rwandaise de 1959  qui a mis fin au régime monarchique. Il a joué un grand rôle dans les institutions de la première république, sous le gouvernement de Grégoire Kayibanda, le premier Président du Rwanda indépendant. Il a été assassiné à la suite du coup d¿État militaire fomenté par le Général-Major Juvénal Habyarimana, le 5 juillet 1973.   A travers l¿engagement et le parcours politique de son père, l¿auteur revisite dans la première partie du livre l¿histoire du Rwanda, loin des idées reçues sur l¿histoire récente du pays, la période précoloniale et coloniale, et la Révolution de 1959. Il revient aussi sur le coup d¿État du 5 juillet 1973 : sa préparation, sa justification, les complicités, la machine à tuer mise en place et contrôlée par le Général-Président Habyarimana lui-même. Il dénonce la mise à mort des prisonniers politiques de 1973, et les atrocités indescriptibles infligées aux victimes, la persécution et l¿anéantissement de leurs familles.
