Gorm, den gamles barnebarn, Kong Svend Tveskæg, kæmpede hårdt med Kong Olav Tryggvason fra Norge i slaget ved Svold. Kong Olav kom forbi Læsø med sit skib Ormen hin lange sammen med den berømte bueskytte Ejner Tamborskælver og 600 krigere. Kong Svend Tveskæg vandt, og måske gik han i land på Læsø, hvor han kunne have haft en affære med en Læsø-pige.En ting er sikkert: omkring år 1000 blev kristendommen udbredt i hele Norden. Den kom også til Læsø med nogle munke og de fik opført den første kirke på Læsø omkring år 1200.
