The Blessing of Pain isn't just a book, but it's a part of me. The importance of writing this memoir is to shed light on issues that I've faced and to give a solution on how to overcome these particular struggles. This piece is known as my transparent treasure. I birthed this book through pain but produced power through the process. The Holy Spirt gave me wisdom on how to use my trials and victories as tools to empower others. With this being said, I turned this book into a manual, workbook, and a guide to remind everyone that there is purpose for their pain. I covered topics such as rejection, molestation, rape, lies, character assassination, loneliness, sickness, relationship problems, drinking, hopelessness, brokenness, depression, and much more. We as people face these mountains, but sometimes we don't understand why or how to maneuver through them. This is where this book comes into handy. This manual consists of Godly wisdom to strategically triumph over obstacle that we may face. As you read, pay attention to my journey, complete the interactive part in each section, and retain the information given. Then you will gain the victory when you encounter various trials. Remember, there is a blessing for your pain and lessons you must maintain. After going through the process, embrace all the wisdom you've gain.

  • von Stephen V Sprinkle
    45,98 - 66,00 €

Over 13,000 Americans have been murdered in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries because of their sexual orientation and gender presentation. In Unfinished Lives: Reviving the Memory of LGBTQ Hate Crimes Victims, Stephen Sprinkle puts a human face on the outrage and loss suffered when people die from anti-gay hatred. Beginning with new developments in the story of Matthew Shepard's murder in Laramie, Wyoming, Sprinkle tells the stories of fourteen representative LGBTQ victims whose lives were savagely cut short due to homophobia and transphobia. These are stories about people who could be your neighbor, classmate, co-worker, or friend-real, everyday people whose love was foreclosed, relationships brutally terminated, and future contributions stolen from us by outrageous, irrational hatred. Told lovingly yet unflinchingly, Unfinished Lives lifts the stories of these LGBTQ victims from undeserved obscurity, allowing their memory to live again. Relying on personal interviews and visits to the locations where these people lived, loved, and died, Sprinkle records the raw emotions, powerful movements for social change, and unexpectedly hopeful communities that arise from the ruins of those people whose only ""offense"" was to live as they were born to be. Part portraiture, part crime narrative, and part ethnography, Unfinished Lives is poised to change the conversation on hate crimes in the United States.

Growing up in the 80's was a great time for any kid. Everyone practiced dancing to Thriller on MTV. Our hearts were warmed by the alien who visited. Girls wore bracelets and rocked the Madonna lace gloves. Being a kid meant our parents kicked us out of the house and we had to be home by streetlights. Neighbors talked to each other, and moms ruled the block. The Ultimate 80's Kid is a memoir of growing up through the years of being a young innocent kid, a rebellious teenager and a reflective adult. One day you're playing hide and go seek with your friends and the next day your parents get divorced and you move to the middle of nowhere surrounded by cows and pigs. Being the youngest of four children was difficult enough but dealing with parents getting divorced, leaving all your friends and having to learn a whole new world during a young boy's life can have an impact many years later. Experiencing the innocence of a first kiss and girlfriend, to the years of rebellion by stealing your grandma's car and going to juvenile hall, realizing that you were on a destructive path in life and ultimately coming to admire, love and respect the person who cared most for you...your mom.

  • - A Bridge Between God and Man
    von Richard A Money
    23,00 €

The Journey of Faith is a tale of his spiritual and physical journey and events that he encountered as a renegade priest with some viewpoints and observations of religion and history. Hopefully, the reader will gain some insight into the world of spirituality for the years to come and will be motivated to have a closer connection to God and not to religion as such. There are many questions asked but the answers are up to the reader. Richard Money doesn't expect Journey of Faith to be a record-breaking novel. In fact, the only reason it is being written is because so many people have told Richard over the years that he has a book in him. When is he going to get it out? Well, here it comes, for better or for worse. Journey of Faith is comprised of many incidents in his life that he believes may show not what he has done, but what he has become with the Grace of God. If you are looking for a religious experience, we don't think you will find it here, although you may. We are not making any promises. Journey of Faith will stimulate the mind to see the real messages of Jesus. What makes this book unique is the ingredients of life, and the events of a married priest after being married, and the training of priests of sixty years ago. If you are seeking the meaning of life and the working of the Holy Spirit this book will truly bring light into your life. All people seeking the Holy Spirit in their lives this is for you. Not only the religious but those on the fence, as it were who may doubt the workings of God in their lives. This book is to be a bridge between God and Man, and to see the manifestations of God in our lives. This is our life in the Journey of Faith.

  • - A Memoir
    von Moon Unit Zappa
    28,00 €

From daughter of musical visionary Frank Zappa, Moon Unit Zappa, comes a memoir of growing up in her unconventional household in 1970s Los Angeles, coming of age as part of the MTV generation in the 1980s as the "Valley Girl," and finding herself after losing her father, then her mother, and the fracturing of her longest relationships. I got my first journal when I was five, for Christmas, then every year after I'd get a new one. They were hardbound in black leather with gold embellishments on the cover and along the paper edges. So fancy. These books felt important. I believed I had a responsibility to do excellent work in them, to match their external beauty and honor the dead trees I held in my hands, a concept my mother had recently illuminated along with explaining hamburgers were deceased cows. Plus, the diaries were from Gail and Frank, my mother and my father, with the inscription to me in his handwriting, so I put undue pressure on myself to turn these blank nothings into weighty somethings, as I saw my idol dad doing on his large, butter-colored music paper. When I wasn't writing short stories about my camels T'mershi Duween and Sinini, or about aliens or ballerinas or nuns, or alien ballerina nuns, I'd report on the happenings in the house or the world at large. I was political and wrote a letter to President Ford to get him to stop men from clubbing baby harp seals. I was ambitious and practiced signing my autograph in various handwriting styles. I was complimentary and wrote a letter to Tina Turner to let her know she is almost as good a dancer as me. I was boy crazy for Shawn Cassidy and wrote his name everywhere, followed by pages of scrawling my new name "Moon Unit Cassidy" in loopy cursive. I used my journals like a secret best friend I could tell anything to: "I'm sad. I wish my dad would take me with him to Europe." When I still lived at home and had no privacy, I'd write in code about really secret stuff so I had somewhere safe to be the real me, to vent about my feelings with impunity. As time went on, I loosened the reins on my dad-comparing and perfectionism in my journals. And in life. I had no choice. Rightly or wrongly, I believed I would never be as good as my dad, so I had to learn to live with plain old me. For Moon Unit Zappa, processing a life so unique, so punctuated by the whims of creative genius, the tastes of popular culture, the calculus of celebrity and the nature of fractured love has at times been eviscerating, at others, illuminating. Yes, this is a book about growing up in the shadows of Frank Zappa, in a sexually free, but also dysfunctional world in 1970s LA. And as we careen into the 1980s, the style and the music and the tone changes--but Moon remains the constant, trying to find herself in a very confusing, everchanging equation--that of her family and the relationship with fame.It is Moon's deep sense of humor and humility that keeps her grounded, and keeps this memoir pinned to the ground. Earth to Moon is a creative, colorful, and wonderful lesson in growing into oneself.

  • - The Life of Robert H. Morris, M.D. As Told To His Son, Robert H. Morris II
    von Robert H Morris
    21,00 €

Robert Morris II recorded eight hours of interviews with his father, Robert Morris, MD (1904-1990), from which he drafted an autobiography and presented it to his dad on his 85th birthday. Until Dr. Morris' death 15 months later, they collaborated to correct and add to the original memories. Dr. Morris' career was unique in several ways: He dropped out of medical school twice, returning to farming, then vowed that he'd become a doctor or die. The third time in medical school, he led his class most quarters. Married a nurse and settling in the village of Medina (pop. 400) in 1935, his practice and reputation -- especially as a diagnostician--grew until his death. He made home visits extending to five counties, the last doctor to do so in this area, delivering some 2000 babies in the home, while also serving in four hospitals. He was a devout Christian and lay leader in his church. Two of his daughters married doctors, two others became ending as a writer. Dr. Morris tells both painful and humorous stories about his life.

  • - Three True Stories of Scoundrels and Schemers
    von Peggy Adler
    45,00 €

In 1991, Peggy Adler, author of Trilogy: Three True Stories of Scoundrels and Schemers, was retained by self-proclaimed CIA agent, arms dealer and money launderer, Richard Brenneke, to co-author his autobiography. She soon discovered evidence in his files contradicting claims regarding his presence at October Surprise conspiracy meetings and went on to out Brenneke as a con artist in a February 1992 article in the Village Voice. Adler then researched a series of additional articles for the "Voice", which went on to prove that the so-called "October Surprise" was a hoax. In mid-1992, upon learning that the United States House of Representatives had created a Task Force to Investigate Certain Allegations Concerning the Holding of American Hostages by Iran in 1980, which would be investigating whether or not there actually had been an "October Surprise", she turned over to them the seventy cartons of documents she'd hauled east from Brenneke's home in Portland, Oregon, in order to write his memoirs. Subsequently, she worked as a consultant to the Task Force and assisted in drafting and editing the Brenneke section of their final report. Chapter one of this book recounts the Brenneke story, from 1973 forward, including her own odyssey with this scoundrel. Chapter two reveals how Oliver North and Richard Secord's Iran-Contra pal, Albert Hakim, was well aware that it was possible to get money out of a Swiss bank account without ever being a signatory - for he'd facilitated just that, years before. And Chapter three traces Roger Ailes relationship to the Willie Horton commercial that helped sink George Dukakis' hope for the presidency. Additionally, the book is laden with all the necessary documentation to back up what Adler has written.

  • - Une figure du roman réaliste en France
    von Edmond Lepelletier
    18,00 €

Rick had been raised in a traditional Catholic family, but his relationship with God was more of a distant, respectful belief than an up-close and personal experience. He couldn't fit into a church pew and most definitely not into a confessional booth. What Rick didn't know was that even then, God was actively pursuing him, even when Rick was not pursuing God at all. When Rick's weight cost him a chance at his dream job, God would lead him on a journey that would reach the mountaintops of national television appearances and even the New York Marathon, but his own poor choices would plunge him back down to a valley leading nowhere. It was in that valley that Rick eventually looked up and recognized God's hand in his life. When he learned to keep his eyes on God, the life God intended him to lead finally came into focus. His path was not always smooth or straight. But learning to put his full trust in the Lord led Rick to be less than half and more than twice the man he used to be.

Raynor offers personal examples from his time at a private catholic high school to his time at Dartmouth College, his long tenure as a college basketball coach, and his experience as a Director of the Young Men of Color initiative. Why Black Men Nod at Each Other (and other observations on life) serves as a guide for coaches, educators, administrators, and the growing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion community.
