A powerful true story of loss and hope by one of the biggest names in sports media, Adam Schefter's The Man I Never Met.On September 11, 2001, Joe Maio went to work in the north tower of the World Trade Center. He never returned, leaving behind a wife, Sharri, and 15-month old son, Devon. Five years later, Sharri remarried, and Devon welcomed a new dad into his life. For thousands, the whole country really, 9/11 is a day of grief. For Adam and Sharri Maio Schefter and their family it's not just a day of grief, but also hope. This is a story of 9/11, but it's also the story of 9/12 and all the days after. Life moved on. Pieces were picked up. New dreams were dreamed. The Schefters are the embodiment of that. The Man I Never Met will give voice to all those who have chosen to keep living. It's gratifying and beautiful. But also messy and hard. Like most families. Except that one day every year history comes roaring back. How do you embrace that? How do you honor that? This book is also a peek at Adam Schefter ("Schefty"), the man behind the headlines and injury reports; a real person who has a real family. It will follow in the path of other ESPN books by Tom Rinaldi and the late Stuart Scott - books that have transcended sport to examine the raw emotion of life.

The legendary New York Yankees catcher tells the incredible story  of his personal journeyFor seventeen seasons, the name Jorge Posada was synonymous with New York Yankees baseball. Now, in this long-awaited memoir, one of the greatest Yankees ever to put on the uniform details his journey to home plate, sharing a remarkable, generational account of his journey from the ballfields of Puerto Rico to the House That Ruth built. Offering a view from behind the mask unlike any other, Jorge discusses the key moments and plays that shaped teams and forged a legacy that came to define Yankees baseball for a generation. With pitch-by-pitch recall, Jorge looks back across the years, explaining how—as part of the Core Four alongside Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, and Mariano Rivera—he helped to reestablish the Yankees as a dynasty and win five World Series. Going beyond his all-star career, Jorge also shares his life in full for the first time, examining how his remarkable journey to the big leagues began in the most unexpected of ways. Digging into his cultural roots in Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Cuba, Jorge illuminates three generations of cherished father-son relationships that have made him the man he is today. At the center is the deep bond he shares with his father and namesake, Jorge Sr., who escaped Cuba and would eventually mold his son to be a ballplayer, honing his talent and instilling in him the drive necessary to fulfill his childhood dream of playing in the Bronx. My Journey Home is a testament to hard work and a celebration of the generational gift of baseball between fathers and sons.

Or he could be an out gay man. He couldn't do both. Then last year, at the age of twenty-five and after nearly stepping away from a brilliant career-one that included an NCAA Championship, winning the MLS Cup, and competing in the Olympics-he chose to tell the truth. But instead of facing the rejection he feared, he was embraced-by his family, by his teammates, and his fans. In Coming Out to Play, Robbie takes readers on his incredible journey from terrified teenager to a trailblazing out and proud professional soccer player for the L.A. Galaxy, who has embraced his new identity as a role model and champion for those still struggling with the secrets that keep them from living their dreams.

Jimmy Connors is a working-man's hero, a people's champion who tore the cover off the country-club gentility of his sport. Yet his enduring dedication to his craft kept him among the top ten best players in the world for sixteen years straight—five of those years at number one. Presiding over an era that saw tennis attract a new breed of passionate fans, from cops to tycoons, Connors transformed the game forever with his two-handed backhand, his two-fisted lifestyle, and his epic rivalries. The complete, uncensored story of his life and career, The Outsider is a grand slam of a memoir written by a man once again at the top of his game—as feisty, unvarnished, and defiant as ever.

Prepare for a paradigm-shifting view of biblical manhood.Every man wants to succeed. But for so many, life seems to get in the way. We all have friends-good men, followers of Christ even-who start out well but before long, they're failing at relationships, bending ethical standards, or drivingthemselves so hard at work they're losing the hearts of their wife and kids.In The Real Win, Colt McCoy and Matt Carter wrestle deeply and personally with this challenge, then deliver down-to-earth, biblical answers. Based on their personal experiences and a close study of Scripture, McCoy and Carter show men:• Why so much depends on who you trust and who you serve• Why every man is called to lead and why every man can• How to man up to temptation-and conquer it• How to find the "win" even in your biggest failure"The real win means trusting the Lord and walking with Jesus no matter what," write Matt and Colt. "That kind of faithfulness is possible for any man who follows God with all his heart. No matter what circumstances threaten him, afaithful man is the most truly confident man in the room."Now includes bonus section on mentoring, plus a small group reading guide.

A revealing and intimate biography of the man who influenced Tiger Woods the most-his father, Earl Woods. From the time he entered the public consciousness as a two-year-old golf prodigy on The Mike Douglas Show, Eldrick "Tiger" Woods has often seemed to be not much more than a ball-striking machine- reinforced by his carefully guarded image and emotionless persona. Even after his recent bombshell adultery scandal, the public still knows very little about the man behind the golf clubs and multimillion-dollar endorsement deals. But one thing is certain: Earl Woods, Tiger's beloved and now deceased father, knew him better and influenced his life more than anyone. In His Father's Son, Tom Callahan offers a full-blown biography of earl Dennison Woods, the Vietnam War veteran who raised the golf phenomenon and, in turn, a full-blown biography of Tiger. With exclusive access to and interviews with Earl, Tiger, and a host of other key figures, Callahan provides an unprecedented look into their lives and the remarkably close relationship they had. With unparalleled insight into the man who made Tiger Woods the person that he is, His Father's Son is part biography and part father-and-son love story.

In the thirty-four years since his retirement, Henry (Hank) Aaron's reputation has only grown in magnitude. But his influence extends beyond statistics, and at long last here is the first definitive biography of one of baseball's immortal figures. Based on meticulous research and extensive interviews The Last Hero reveals how Aaron navigated the upheavals of his time-fighting against racism while at the same time benefiting from racial progress-and how he achieved his goal of continuing Jackie Robinson's mission to obtain full equality for African Americans, both in baseball and society, while he lived uncomfortably in the public eye. Eloquently written, detailed and penetrating, this is a revelatory portrait of a complicated, private man who through sports became an enduring American icon.
