Læsøs beliggenhed i Kattegat har medført, at mange skibe gennem tiderne enten har passeret, har søgt proviant eller er strandet her. Vikingeskibene har passeret her på vej fra Norge ind til Østersøen. De første fast-boende på Læsø er sikkert fra Vikingetiden. Indvandringen krævede en sejlbåd, så man kunne sejle til og fra øen. Gorm, den gamles barnebarn, Kong Svend Tveskæg, kæmpede hårdt med Kong Olav Tryggvason fra Norge i slaget ved Svold. Kong Olav kom forbi Læsø med sit skib Ormen hin lange sammen med den berømte bueskytte Ejner Tamborskælver og 600 krigere. Kong Svend Tveskæg vandt, og måske gik han i land på Læsø, hvor han kunne have haft en affære med en Læsø-pige.En ting er sikkert: omkring år 1000 blev kristendommen udbredt i hele Norden. Den kom også til Læsø med nogle munke og de fik opført den første kirke på Læsø omkring år 1200. Da var mine slægtninge blevet Læsøboere, og her har de boet midt på øen i 800 år.Det er min beretning om slægten på Læsø, som har efterladt sig spor i protokollerne fra 1600 tallet.

I 1944-45 blev han leder af modstandsbevægelsen i Nordjylland, Region 1. Han skrev efterfølgende bogen "Kamp og sejr" (1976), der er en beretning fra Danmarks besættelse 1940-45.
