From sandlot baseball to a lettered career on the manicured diamonds of Central Michigan University, Bob's character was shaped by working-class parents, neighborhood chums, school classmates, and devoted mentors. His education leadership career of nearly 60 years left a legacy of mutual love and devotion between Bob and his students, staff, communities, and of course his family. This book is about you, and this book is about God. He has been trying to get your attention for a while. I feel like a mystery date host. This time, however, I know the mystery person. I know Him so well. He isn't a mystery anymore. You, however, are not known to me.You will notice things changing slowly at first. I prayed for months for a change to my physical structure. I knew God could do it, and I was a willing participant. After months of prayer, I could see He was not granting my desire even though it was a desire of my heart. To say I was frustrated was an understatement. As I sat on my bed and threw my hands into the air and asked, "What?" There was a voice, and it said softly, "You're nonthreatening."That day unbeknownst to me was my first day assigned to the hot side of the psych unit. As I walked into the room, I saw the sizeable man's frame whose feet hung several feet off the end of the bed. This man was enormous. His muscles were huge. His eyes were so swollen I wanted to get him ice packs. He was heavily drugged.I told him my name and that I was his nurse today. Today was the day I would help him. He pried one eye open, a red eyeball. I realized the absurdity of my offer as he could crush me like an ant.He opened his mouth with lips stuck like wallpaper to a wall with mostly dry wallpaper adhesive.He chuckled like a horse, and if horses could talk, this man said to me, "Well, you're sure nonthreatening.""You've got that right," I said. "I'll bring in breakfast to you first today," I promised.

Alles begann bei einem Gespräch in der Küche. Gerade war Didier Eribons Rückkehr nach Reims erschienen, das wir zu lesen versuchten, es aber immer wieder weglegen mussten. Zu nah waren die Erfahrungen an den eigenen Klassenwechseln, und doch fehlte da etwas. Je mehr wir unsere eigene Klassengeschichte befragten, desto mehr Freund:innen fielen uns ein, bei denen es ähnlich war. Wir entwickelten einen Fragebogen und fingen an, Interviews zu führen. Viele der Befragten erzählen von Migrationsgeschichten, sind queer und fast alle sind oder waren im Kunst- und Kulturbereich tätig. Alle sind oder waren einmal Töchter. In diesen Gesprächen werden Klasse mit Geschlecht, queerness, Arbeit, Migration, Widerstand und Sorge verschränkt. Das Buch behauptet eine andere Wirklichkeit, in der das Sprechen über Klasse nicht von Scham und Isolierung getragen wird, sondern Verbindungen schafft.

Nach angefangenen Ausbildungen und einer Phase, in der er sich viel ausprobiert hat, wurde er schließlich Taxifahrer in St. Ingbert. Das war auch die Zeit, in der seine Psychosen immer stärker wurden und er schließlich in die Psychiatrie eingewiesen wurde. Da sein Herz schon immer an Kunst hing und seine Kreativität ein wichtiges Ventil war, um sich ausdrücken und seinen Gefühlen sowie Gedanken einen Freiraum geben zu können, wurden Maltherapien ein wichtiger Bestandteil während seinem Aufenthalt in der Psychiatrie. Seine Gemälde waren Ausgangspunkt der therapeutischen Gespräche, die als Visualisierungen von Unbewusstem, als ¿Urbilder¿ der menschlichen Seele, gelten. In dieser Zeit nahm er auch mit Briefen Kontakt zum deutschen Aktionskünstler Joseph Beuys auf, von dem er schließlich seinen Künstlernamen ¿Claude Jaté¿ erhielt. In den folgenden Jahren musste er immer wieder in Psychiatrien behandelt werden, da ihn auch immer weitere Persönlichkeiten ausgemacht haben.
