Welcome to Whigville takes us back to postwar America, into a little Mid-Michigan village the locals called Whigville-a small settlement smackdab in the middle of the arsenals of democracy, Flint and Detroit, and the hometown of young Bob Burek. From sandlot baseball to a lettered career on the manicured diamonds of Central Michigan University, Bob's character was shaped by working-class parents, neighborhood chums, school classmates, and devoted mentors. His education leadership career of nearly 60 years left a legacy of mutual love and devotion between Bob and his students, staff, communities, and of course his family. Welcome to the story of Bob Burek. Welcome to Whigville!

This book is about you, and this book is about God. He has been trying to get your attention for a while. I feel like a mystery date host. This time, however, I know the mystery person. I know Him so well. He isn't a mystery anymore. You, however, are not known to me.You will notice things changing slowly at first. I prayed for months for a change to my physical structure. I knew God could do it, and I was a willing participant. After months of prayer, I could see He was not granting my desire even though it was a desire of my heart. To say I was frustrated was an understatement. As I sat on my bed and threw my hands into the air and asked, "What?" There was a voice, and it said softly, "You're nonthreatening."That day unbeknownst to me was my first day assigned to the hot side of the psych unit. As I walked into the room, I saw the sizeable man's frame whose feet hung several feet off the end of the bed. This man was enormous. His muscles were huge. His eyes were so swollen I wanted to get him ice packs. He was heavily drugged.I told him my name and that I was his nurse today. Today was the day I would help him. He pried one eye open, a red eyeball. I realized the absurdity of my offer as he could crush me like an ant.He opened his mouth with lips stuck like wallpaper to a wall with mostly dry wallpaper adhesive. He chuckled like a horse, and if horses could talk, this man said to me, "Well, you're sure nonthreatening.""You've got that right," I said. "I'll bring in breakfast to you first today," I promised.

    19,99 €

Joyce Nassar Huna Waharina is a survivor of her own past which was filled with abuse, violence, addictions, depression & trauma, anxiety and burnout. She was under the hells of life and was abandoned medically and by those around her. She lived in a whirlpool of inner self-destruction and constant sadness. Always looking to be loved, seen and valued for who she was, not how she was supposed to function or be molded. Somewhere along the way, she lost herself in all the diagnoses she had received, living out her own self-abandonment, resistance and depression. 14 years ago, at the age of 30, she was told that this state of hopelessness, pain and permanent inner darkness was chronic and that she had to learn to live with it. This statement lit a new fire in her. She made a decision to finally live. Without even knowing what real LIFE was, she began her journey. She began to believe in herself, found ways to heal herself and activate her own self-healing powers, changed her outlook on life and became healthy. Today she stands for hope, belief in oneself and never giving up.Her poems are a journey from 1993-2010, through her darkness, depressions and moments of hope. Let yourself be inspired by a journey in darkness that led more and more into the light.

"Genuine and heartfelt."-San Diego Union-TribuneRonald Reagan's daughter writes with a moving openness about losing her father to Alzheimer's disease. The simplicity with which she reveals the intensity, the rush, the flow of her feelings encompasses all the surprises and complexities that ambush us when death gradually, unstoppably invades life.In this moving and illuminating portrait of a woman and her father, Patti Davis describes saying goodbye in stages, helpless against the onslaught of a disease that steals what is most precious-a person's memory. "Alzheimer's," she writes, "snips away at the threads, a slow unraveling, a steady retreat; as a witness all you can do is watch, cry, and whisper a soft stream of goodbyes."She writes of needing to be reunited at forty-two with her mother, of regaining what they had spent decades demolishing. A truce was necessary to bring together a splintered family, a few weeks before her father released his letter telling the country and the world of his illness. She delves into her memories to touch her father again, to hear his voice, to keep alive the years she had with him.

Though retired from being actively involved with football 17 years ago, Frank remains an ardent fan. He was an Essex qualified Referee for 42 years. Retiring at the age of 72. Hardly missing a weekend. Reverently applying Football's laws he had sworn to uphold. No matter the age of players. He loved what he did. For 42 years he did it well. Now 89, like most fellow Octogenarians, he lives in the past. Explains Frank Now memories are daily happenings which football fans should enjoy. So why not let them". It All Kicks Off On Sunday is Frank's third book.Like the previous two, all money from book sales will be given to SeSaw. A Leavenheath, Suffolk based small animal rescue and rehoming charity.Full of fears, tears and cheers. Being sworn at, spat at, struck by thrown missiles and once floored, It All Kicks Off On Sunday puts the whistle in your hands. It accurately reports incidents that have decidedly and dramatically changed the face of soccer. A decision taken when, in 1961 the capped wages of twenty pounds weekly, was universally scrapped.Since when and mores the pity, soccer has become awash with money. He persuaded his son to qualify and become a referee at eighteen. Sadly he resigned before the season's end. Just one of the one hundred of that season's one hundred and fifty Essex referees who qualifed that year. Frank hopes his 14 year old Grand Daughter, Millie, a newly qualified this year's referee, is determined it won't.As the end of his refereeing activities drew to a close, Frank said given the opportunity, he'd do it all again. At age 89 a rare compliment indeed. Seriously, if you enjoy a challenge, there's none better" said the retired man in the middle.

"The Bluebell Wood" is a vivid portrayal of life in war-torn areas around the world through the eyes of the children BRISBANE, Australia - Inspired by personal experience and her life's journey, author Caroline Cressey offers hope and inspiration to all her readers as she releases her new book, The Bluebell Wood. Through this wonderful tale, readers will discover more about life and the purpose of their existence. Set in the United Kingdom in the 1990s, The Bluebell Wood revolves around the refugee, orphaned and abused children and describes life in war-torn areas throughout the world. Here, readers will find the story of how a particular group of children are then rescued by the headmistress of a convent, Sister More. It is a story that reveals the importance of love and what happens when children are deprived of this, their birthright. The book also describes, through events, how parents and guardians hurt children in subtle and not so subtle ways. The book suggests that children are highly sensitive and often more mature in thinking than most adults give them credit for. In The Bluebell Wood, Cressey has written an engaging narrative that will appeal to all those interested in the very political events in war-torn countries. Unique and interesting this book will entice readers because it will allow them to know that the trauma suffered by refugee, orphaned and abused children is not a subject often covered in fiction today.

This is a story about Darkness. It's also a story about Light. It is in essence a memoir and a diary woven together by flashes of memories. There is a learning through those memories that sometimes Light can be shadowed by the Dark. This is a story about a family. A family that was hindered in being all it could have been because of the Darkness. One that was intermittent in its visits and left radically affected souls in its wake. This is my story. A story about an ordinary young girl in a seemingly normal family. It is a glimpse into and a reflection of the memories I have sorted through in my journey into healing. It is a story about bravery and learning to live fully in the aftermath. There is much power within courageous healing and the hope that can unfold with it.

He relates his sometimes risky but always rewarding journey with complete acceptance of the power of God's guidance upon it. It's not just Geoffrey's journey.
