Aber dann finden Sie ihn. Mit seinen Texten unterhält er (also David Friedrich, Autor dieses Buches) seit 2007 Menschen auf der Bühne oder vor der Kamera, bei Poetry Slams oder beim Kabarett. Nur selten waren Friedrichs Inhalte autobiographisch oder persönlich, meist behielten sie eine gewissen Distanz zum Autor selbst, schließlich ging es ihm eher darum, das Publikum zu unterhalten. Nun zieht er aber blank. Er stellt sich seinen Ängsten und schreibt über seine posttraumatischen Belastungsstörungen, seine Depressionen und Panikattacken und wird dabei zunehmend unvorsichtiger und ehrlicher. In »doll« geht es um intensive Texte, die nicht nach Bestätigung suchen, sondern unbequem sein wollen. Politik und Gesellschaft kommentiert er überspitzt und voller Ironie, aber nicht mehr mit dem Ziel, zu unterhalten - das Lachen soll einem im Halse stecken bleiben. Die Texte wollen nicht zum Nachdenken anregen, sondern zum Handeln. Gleichzeitig hat dieses Buch keinen Anspruch, keine Hoffnung, es könne irgendwas verändern, denn die Wahrheit ändert nichts. Sie ist einfach nur sehr »doll«.
