Dies ist der dritte Gedichtband nach Oktober und März mit den jeweiligen Monatsversen. Angefangen hatte alles im ersten Jahr der düsteren Phase der Corona-Pandemie 2020. Es sollten Lichtpunkte gesetzt werden angesichts der bedrückenden und schwierigen Zeiten. Leider gingen die harten Themen eher weiter, so dass auch die Bände mit den Gedichten weitergehen. Hinzu kommen bemalte Steine mit positiven Botschaften, von denen etliche jetzt auch wieder in diesem Band passend zu den Gedichten zu finden sind. Sie geben den Texten eine gewisse Leichtigkeit. Ich nenne sie Buddha-Stones und lege sie später immer irgendwo in die Landschaft.Dezember - der Monat mit der meisten Unruhe und Hektik, obwohl eigentlich Entschleunigung und Vorfreude herrschen sollten. Jeden Tag ein Gedicht lesen, dazu die abgebildeten Steine betrachten - auch so kann man sich in der Adventszeit auf das Weihnachtsfest, auf Sylvester sowie auf den Beginn der länger werdenden Tage einstimmenBand 1 hatte 21 Gedichte, Band 2 hatte 22 und der jetzige dritte hat logischerweise 23 Schwerpunkte. Es geht um mentale Entschlackung, Seelenstreicheleien, um die spirituellen Aspekte des Schenkens, um Rückbesinnung, um Erinnerung an die eigene Kinderzeit, den Pfad der Selbsterkenntnis sowie um Meditation im Mondlicht. Aber auch um Gedanken, was politisch falsch läuft und um die Tage, die langsam wieder heller werden. Matthias Buths lyrische Sprache verfügt über verschiedene Register, um die Komplexität des Lebens darzustellen, sie ist jederzeit auf das Wesentliche reduziert und kennt keine Geschwätzigkeit, denn sie nimmt sich ihren Beobachtungen mit existenziellem Ernst an.Die subtile Binnenspannung in seinen Gedichten entsteht durch einen nüchternen, essay- und kommentarnahen Zugriff auf der einen Seite und die geradezu verschwenderisch ausgestreute Metaphorik auf der anderen Seite. Aber dann finden Sie ihn. Mit seinen Texten unterhält er (also David Friedrich, Autor dieses Buches) seit 2007 Menschen auf der Bühne oder vor der Kamera, bei Poetry Slams oder beim Kabarett. Nur selten waren Friedrichs Inhalte autobiographisch oder persönlich, meist behielten sie eine gewissen Distanz zum Autor selbst, schließlich ging es ihm eher darum, das Publikum zu unterhalten. In »doll« geht es um intensive Texte, die nicht nach Bestätigung suchen, sondern unbequem sein wollen. Politik und Gesellschaft kommentiert er überspitzt und voller Ironie, aber nicht mehr mit dem Ziel, zu unterhalten - das Lachen soll einem im Halse stecken bleiben. Die Texte wollen nicht zum Nachdenken anregen, sondern zum Handeln. Gleichzeitig hat dieses Buch keinen Anspruch, keine Hoffnung, es könne irgendwas verändern, denn die Wahrheit ändert nichts. Sie ist einfach nur sehr »doll«.

Afterword by Josh McloughlinThomas Chatterton, born 1752, was the son of the sexton at St Mary Redcliffe Church in Bristol, England. His father died before Chatterton was born, leaving his mother to provide for Thomas and his sister by sewing. Chatterton began publishing his poetry at the age of 11. At 15, in an attempt to support his mother and sister, he invented the 15th-century priest-poet Thomas Rowley, creating manuscripts on old parchment found in the church basement and selling them as authentic artifacts to local noblemen. After this initial success, he sent the poems to Horace Walpole who at first believed them to be authentic but soon detected idioms and language inconsistent with the conventions of the 15th century. Walpole then rejected and scorned Chatterton, taking no notice of the brilliance of his invention. Chatterton left for London where he wrote political treatises and pornographic poems ridiculing politicians of the day and frequented the demimonde. In 1770, at age 17, unable to sell his writing and thinking himself a failure, Chatterton poisoned himself with arsenic. Thirty years after his death, Chatterton was celebrated by the Romantics-including Coleridge, Wordsworth, and Shelley-as the precursor and epitome of Romanticism.
