'Broken maps, made from stories of displacement and refugee camps, stories of depression, of people learning to live with sound of gunshots today find their space within the broken maps, all living with broken lives. This to me is the scene the poet deliberately calls broken maps and one can go beyond boundaries to meet people whose lives mingle in what they strongly reject from their once brothers, war. Though there were poems written in the years between 1983 and 94, most of his efforts in those eleven years were spent writing fiction. Four novels were published in that time, and come 1994 he found he had enough poems for a book, Unfinished Building, and while he continued with fiction, he also found he was writing poetry, and since then he has managed to work at both arts. This volume, including the aforementioned book, contains the collections Human Nature (New Directions), Darklight and Death Sentences (both from Shearman Books), and See / Saw, published here for the first time.

The poet thinks that he is a crazy horse, a driven creature. For most people in the third world, including the terrified, anxious Bangladesh, who are oppressed and persecuted in many ways, the king is like a broken drinking glass. The new king comes with the elegance of apparent dignity. No one dreams or even has time to think about the have-nots. Although the practice of slavery has apparently been deserted, he believes that slavery still exists in different forms, in different dimensions, in different structures throughout the world. The country and society are plagued by the tyranny of the petty bourgeoisie and the greedy middlemen, the enemies of the house, just as the developed world's crazy lords with poisonous teeth are still holding an invisible whip in their hand in oppressing the people of third-world countries. He claims to be the descendant of the slave, the representative of the new slaves. And let the poem "Slave," that came from all his grief and his inner bloodshed, be evolved the consciousness of all. The poet wishes that one day suddenly the content of the poem will be a protester in the intense longing for freedom from the chains. This is his humble prayer to the Lord.

Manifested as I Waited, was initially doing something to pass time. Turned into therapy, then begin to add an outlet. Uplifting, will motivating. This volume of ¿Neuere Lyrik¿ contains a selection of texts on Latin American poetry that focuses on its encounter ¿ at times direct and dialogic; at times indirect or even oppositional ¿ with foreign texts and traditions. The question it therefore raises is what constitutes the borders ¿ cultural, medial, discursive, linguistic, etc. ¿ of a poetic tradition to begin with, particularly today.
