2045 will be the centenary of the only use of nuclear weapons against an enemy target. The world has avoided their use since then, but the presence of nuclear weapons in the arsenal of nine countries creates scary possibilities that they will be used. Today, Russia issues veiled nuclear threats, North Korea conducts daily tests of long-range nuclear-capable missiles, and China has a growing nuclear inventory, all of which represent the faded global initiatives to eliminate nuclear weapons. And so, Gar Pardy, a former Canadian ambassador and long-time diplomat, offers cogent advice on international efforts for the elimination of nuclear weapons.

Anthony Joseph Drexel Biddle Sr. was an eccentric millionaire and an amateur boxer, he was also a pioneer of combatives in the United States of America. He began his career with the Marine Corps as an instructor of bayonet tactics during World War I. Biddle was also one of the biggest promoters of W.E. Fairbairn's Defendu during the interwar period and taught Marines and G-men hand-to-hand fighting tactics up until the end of World War II. This book presents an overview of the man's story and his system.

Rudolf Trenkel was a resident in Thorn, West Prussia which came following the Versailles Treaty a part of reborn Poland. Trenkel details the continuing persecution of Germans, who had lived in West Prussia from time immemorial by the Polish government and people who were attempting an ethnic cleansing of the land. He also goes into attempts to steal and cajole further German territory, as well as land in the East from the White Russians, Ukrainians, and Russians.Extensively remarked upon is the desire of Poland for war against its neighbors in an attempt to establish a Greater Polish Empire in Central Europe. Rather than build up its new State, which consisted of German farms and industrial areas of Western Prussia, Poland allowed these to decay into poverty in the Polish military dictatorship's quest to be, and be recognized as, a Great Power. The years of Polish Rule over German areas prior to Poland's notice of full mobilization in August 1939, which is a de facto declaration of war, and the consequent German strike which overthrew the Versailles Polish State in September 1939 are detailed. Also are the massacres of ethnic Germans who were ripped from their homeland by the Versailles Treaty in ethnic cleansing which finally caused Germany to go to war against Poland after innumerable provocations and atrocities which launched the desired World War II on the part of Western warmongers. This is a book by a man who lived through these terrible times and his desire to set the historical record straight from the victor's history of the era.

UNSERE ZUKUNFT IM WELTRAUM: JETZT!Am 5.

Follow the story of Private Neville Carson and his experience in the Middle East during World War II. Using his camera, which he was prohibited from having, Neville was able to depict and tell a story of his experience in the Australian army. This enabled the 19-year-old private to focus on the adventure of his deployment rather than its harsher realities. Told from the perspective of a normal young man, this story highlights the life-changing impact that the war had on even the most ordinary of lives. Such a detailed insight into a first-hand experience of the war, allows for a greater understanding of what soldiers were subject to during such difficult times in history.

Spies! Loyalists! Tories! Conspiracy! Strange messages? Codes in invisible ink? The American Revolution was first and foremost a civil war that tore at the very fabric of families as well as society. Patriots were determined to separate from England; while Loyalists were just as determined to defeat what they saw as a rebellion. Many do not know that during several critical periods the war was almost fatally undermined by English sympathizers or in some cases opportunistic Patriots. Patriots and Spies in Revolutionary New York is a compilation of twelve stories regarding important moments in New York State's history during the American Revolution.

On August 7, 1942, U.S. Marines waded ashore in the Solomons, defended by warships of the U.S. Navy. The amphibious landing was the first major American ground campaign of the Pacific War, intended to prevent the Japanese from establishing naval and air bases in the island chain and to establish Allied bases for future operations. Most famously¿and most gruelingly¿the invasion marked the beginning of the months-long Guadalcanal campaign. Caught off guard, the Japanese swiftly regrouped for a seaborne counterattack on the night of August 8¿9. The result was one of the worst American naval defeats of the war after Pearl Harbor. In this meticulous minute-by-minute retelling of the First Battle of Savo Island, Lawrence De Graw covers the navy¿s role in the initial landings on Guadalcanal before setting the stage for the naval clash that would come the next night. On the eighth, the American commander, fearing Japanese attacks and cautious about fuel levels, withdrew his aircraft carriers and let his cruisers and destroyers¿exhausted from two days of high alert and combat¿operate with only half their crews on duty. The navy was unaware the Japanese had been training to fight at night. The American ships were sitting ducks when the Japanese fleet steamed through ¿The Slot¿ between Savo Island and Guadalcanal and into what became known as ¿Ironbottom Sound.¿ In little more than thirty minutes, the Japanese sent three U.S. (and one Australian) heavy cruisers to the bottom and damaged three other vessels. The American fleet withdrew from the area for the foreseeable future and limited shipments of men and materiel to the daytime, helping turn the battle of Guadalcanal into a long, hard slog.Sitting Ducks at Guadalcanal is naval history, featuring a colorful narrative that covers the big picture as well as stories of individual vessels and sailors as well as a careful analysis of the battle and just what went wrong for the U.S. Navy off the island of Guadalcanal.

This book explores imperial entanglements to reassess the Napoleonic Empire as a missing link¿or at least an important chain¿in the global and longue durée history of Empires. In recent years Napoleonic studies have, belatedly but resolutely, embraced the transnational historiographical turn, vastly expanding the field¿s geographical scope. Its canonical chronological boundaries, on the other hand, appear increasingly narrow against this wider backdrop, giving the impression of a parenthetical, almost anachronistic aside from 1799 to 1815. What connects, and what doesn¿t connect, the Napoleonic Empire to the Age of Empire, remains by and large an open question. Put another way, this book attempts to locate the Napoleonic empire in World History.

Just War and Christian Traditions introduces readers ¿ lay persons and clergy alike ¿ to classical Christian thinking across denominational lines on the tradition of just war thinking. Representing a two-millennia-old conversation in our wider cultural tradition, just war thinking (often going by the misnomer ¿just war theory¿) is rooted in biblical texts from the Old and New Testaments, historic Christian thinkers such as Ambrose, Augustine, Aquinas, Luther, Vitoria, Suárez, and Grotius, ethical principles such as the ¿Golden Rule¿ and neighbor-love, as well as natural law principles embedded in Greco-Roman and Judeo-Christian thought. As such, it is a shared tradition that unites the vast majority of the world¿s Christians across denominational and theological divides.

This is the continuing saga of protagonist Morgan Jones' attempt to set America on a course much different than the one it is now pursuing. The story begins by delving into the lives of two boys, Jake and Johnny. They are two typical American boys who, due to hard times, decide to ride freight trains around the country playing pool to finance their existence. It turns out that Jake is a pool whiz. Jake is also proficient in the Marshall arts. During their excursion they encounter two hobos intent upon robbing them. Jake handily wins the day and Jake and Johnny continue upon their way. They randomly encounter Morgan Jones and his troupe at a quarry that the boys stopped at for some swimming, rest, and relaxation. Jones convinces the boys that disaster for America is imminent. Jake and Johnny agree to join Jones' cause. Jones had heard of Jake's performance with the hobos and decided that he would be a suitable candidate to aid him in his campaign. It turns out that Jones had come across information that one of America's past invasions had inspired a group of agents from the invaded country to devise a plan to annihilate much of America's infrastructure. Over a period of years hundreds of explosives were planted at critical places within the country's railways, turnpikes, and electrical grids. At a designated time these explosives would be detonated simultaneously rendering the country without transportation, communication, and heat to survive the winter in the north. After this attack took place Jake's task would be to lead a particular population in the north to the south in order to survive the coming winter. Needless to say, Jake and Johnny experienced many adventures during their travels. At the same time, Jake's counterparts were also leading their minions southward to set up camps throughout the southern portions of the country. Jones' plan was to transform America's society from one that worshiped money, possessions, and fame to one that honored truth, honesty, and loyalty. And to transform America to a land that honored science above superstition. During this transition much blood was shed, but in the end Jones and his men defeated the traditionalists during America's second revolution and a new way was established throughout the country. This society would value men and women of science above celebrities, athletes, and politicians. Those who shunned the new way and desired to hold on to their Biblical beliefs would be judged by the statutes couched in their cherished tome. The BiblicalGod deems it appropriate to kill ones disobedient son, to kill ones promiscuous daughter, to kill one's bride if she comes to her wedding bed without the tokens of her virginity, to kill all the homosexuals, to kill anyone who curses God, to kill anyone who curses their mother or father, and so on. So, in short order, those intransigent stalwart traditionalists perished in droves in alignment with their Father's wishes. The country would now be free to pursue science without the religious impediment that it has faced over the centuries. Superstition of all sorts and varieties would no longer be free to taint the minds of the country's youth. Jones believed that through science many new technologies would bring prosperity once again to the land. Through science disease could be greatly reduced or eliminated. Through science perpetual energy sources could be implemented. Jones also knew that this was simply a single step in a staircase toward a sane and just society, but each journey must begin with a single step.

Wealthy protagonist Morgan Jones believes that his days are numbered. He has known for some time that America's religion as well as its history as taught to America's school children is fallacious. Due to his failing health he realizes that it is time to set the record straight. In order to do so he needs the assistance of one of America's most famous televangelists. He chooses the darling of America's faith healers Miriam Starbuck to fill this role. Miriam is kidnapped and taken to Jones' abode. Miriam is, of course, uncooperative at first. However, Miriam's reluctance is overcome when she is advised that tiny devices were deposited in her sedated body when she first arrived at Jones' villa. These devices were filled with a deadly agent which would be released at a predetermined time if she failed to accede to Jones' wishes. Part of Jones' strategy is to confront Miriam with the many inconsistencies and troubling passages in the Bible, and over time he forces her to admit that she is a fraud and that she has never cured anybody of anything. Eventually, Jones wins Miriam over and she becomes a willing accomplice. Jones knows that when he releases Miriam, religious leaders and many high ranking politicians will want to be in attendance as she tells of her experience before every major news network in the country. When the time comes for Miriam's formal declaration it is within a large hall festooned with all sorts of decorations. Many of Miriam's former religious cohorts are in attendance. The Vice President of the United States is also in the audience. This presents Jones the opportunity to confront these religious leaders and prove to the world that they are charlatans as well as hypocrites. Jones takes advantage of this opportunity to challenge the VP to take him up on a debate on various topics of historical interest to Jones. The VP cannot refuse under the circumstances. After Jones is successful in the first half of his adventure he then sets his sights on revealing the fanciful rendition of America's history peddled by the many blasphemers of the truth. He is, of course, successful. Along the way, some useful and unique observations are made concerning religion, science, and America's contrary view of those countries different from our own.
