Leo Trepp wachst in einer orthodoxen Familie auf, in der Theater und klassische Literatur ebenso zum Alltag gehoren wie Torastudium und Synagogenbesuche. Nach Philosophiepromotion und Rabbinerausbildung amtiert er als letzter Landesrabbiner in Oldenburg, unter den kritischen Blicken der Nationalsozialisten. Nach seiner Entlassung aus dem Konzentrationslager entkommt er in die USA. Doch schon bald beginnt er sein "e;unermudliches Versohnungswerk"e;, wie es Karl Kardinal Lehmann nannte: Immer wieder kehrt er nach Deutschland zuruck, um den Menschen das Judentum naher zu bringen und Vorurteile abzubauen. Er lehrt und berat, steht im engagierten Dialog mit Kirchenvertretern und Muslimen und hilft beim Aufbau neuer judischer Gemeinden. Seine Autobiographie blieb unvollendet - und so trgt seine Frau, die Autorin Gunda Trepp, die Erinnerungen zusammen, ergnzt, kommentiert und erzhlt mit Liebe und Wrme von diesem tief religisen und doch so un-orthodoxen deutsch-jdischen Leben.

Zwei Stellvertreter Gottes standen dem Faschismus gegenuber: Der eine Papst, Pius XII., schwieg offentlich zum Holocaust. Sein Vorganger, Pius XI. (1922-1939), galt als wahrer Stellvertreter Christi, der auf der Seite der verfolgten Juden stand und Hitler durch die Enzyklika Mit brennender Sorge in seine Schranken verwies. In der packenden Geschichte ber die Geheimbeziehungen des Vatikan zur faschistischen Fhrung wird deutlich, dass sich Mussolini und Pius XI. zwar hassten, sich aus Grnden des Machterhalts aber dennoch sttzten. Der ungebildete, unglubige Duce und der gottesfrchtige Kleriker schlossen einen verhngnisvollen Pakt. Erst mit Einfhrung der Rassengesetze 1938 und der immer grer werdenden Nhe zu Nazi-Deutschland dmmerte es Pius XI., mit wem er da paktiert hatte. Als er starb, konnte sein Nachfolger Eugenio Pacelli diesen Pakt fortsetzen. David Kertzers bahnbrechende Arbeit, die mit dem Pulitzer-Preis ausgezeichnet wurde, enthllt das ganze Ausma der faschistischen Verstrickung.

The history of 1971 Bangladesh War of Liberation accords the mass rape of Bangladeshi women by the Pakistan Army and their local collaborators. After about 40 years of the Liberation War, the matter of rape of the Bangladeshi women was brought under litigation, to a certain extent, in the International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh (ICT-BD). However, the issue of justice for the rape victims of the 1971 Bangladesh War of Liberation still lacks comprehensive social and legal attention. A question remained very much unexplored as to whether 'legal justice' through trials essentially ensures 'social justice' for the war rape victims of Bangladesh. It thus remains an unspoken narrative in Bangladesh in respect of how the war rape victims actually perceive 'justice'. Another question that arises in this regard is whether 'complete justice' is being done in the course of ensuring legal justice to war rape victims. It may be mentioned that no systematic and/or comprehensive research has been conducted so far on this subject. This research would endeavor to get an account from 385 Bangladeshi war rape victims and their families about the socio-legal aspects of the long-awaited justice.
