Først et åbent brev med advarsel mod »Sværmerånden« og dernæst en mere uddybende og grundig behandling mod »De himmelske profeter«, som Luther kalder dem. Det er i dette skrift, Luther også giver en af sine mest udførlige behandlinger af forskellen på erhvervelsen af syndernes forladelse og uddelingen af denne skat. Erhvervelsen er sket én gang på korset, men uddelingen sker igen og igen gennem ord og sakramenter. Og det er kun på denne måde, Helligånden kommer til mennesker.
