The academic study of religion is undergoing great changes in response to globalization. Just as sociologists now find it necessary to think in terms of "multiculturalism," so religion scholars and theologians today must work in the context of "multireligiosity." Globalization is leading not only to multiethnic societies but also to plurality in religions and worldviews.Theology and the Religions: A Dialogue offers the first sustained analysis of the trend toward multireligiosity and its implications for the study of religion. Drawing on the resources of cultural analysis, religious studies, and theology, an international slate of thirty-seven scholars explores the relation of multiculturality and multireligiosity, the need for interreligious dialogue, and the possibilities for a "theology of religions." This groundbreaking work is supported by case studies of various religious traditions in diverse cultures from around the world.Offering an engaging, wide-angle view of religion worldwide, Theology and the Religions makes a vital contribution to our understanding of the forces shaping the future of religious and social life. • von Jeremiah Burroughs
    14,00 €

""The devil loves to fish in troubled waters"--from Jeremiah Burroughs's Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment Jeremiah Burroughs reminds us that peace and calm in the midst of great troubles is a requirement for a Christian, and that learning contentment is the ABCs of the Christian life. But contentment does not come naturally. We excuse our stress, anxiety, and discouragement by claiming that we are just planning for the future and reacting normally to trials. But in this Puritan classic, Burroughs presents readers with the high calling to be content whatever the circumstances: "Christian contentment is that sweet, inward, quiet, gracious frame of spirit, which freely submits to and delights in God's wise and fatherly disposal." "Burroughs, being a wise pastor, works the teaching of contentment into every possible nook and cranny in the Christian life. If you want to read something to make you feel you have arrived, this is not the book for you. Burroughs understands that contentment is a mystery and cannot be taught lightly. It requires diligent application if we are to say with Paul that we have learned the secret of being content in all circumstances"--from Nancy Wilson's introduction"--

  • von Charles Chiniquy

  • von Richard Baxter
    13,00 €

Richard Baxter was one of the most important leaders of the Puritan church in England in the 17th century. Born in Shropshire, England sometime in 1615, Baxter was poorly educated as a child, but diligently pursued his education as a young man and decided to enter the church at age 23. He was ordained as a pastor in 1638 and began a long and prolific career as a church leader, poet, theologian and writer. It is estimated he wrote as many as 141 books over his lifetime before his death in 1691. Baxter was appointed vicar of Kidderminster in 1647 and would remain in this post for nearly 19 years, except for those times during the English Civil War when he was forced to flee due to his religious beliefs. During his time at Kidderminster Baxter refined his ideas for reforming the ministry. First appearing as early as 1656, "The Reformed Pastor" was written by Baxter to assist other ministers in performing their duties to their congregations and to lead by example by living lives of faith and virtue. Baxter's teachings have inspired and influenced ministers for centuries and continue to provide a strong moral guide for religious leaders to this day. This edition is printed on premium acid-free paper.

If someone told you that you could have a better life on this earth by reading a book, would you read it? If someone told you that you could attain eternal life by reading a book, would you read it? For centuries, people have been reading The Holy Bible, seeking that better life on this earth and eternal life in Heaven, but they have not yet found what they are looking for. They have not been able to find what they are looking for because they still haven't understood the true message of The Holy Bible. By reading "The Book Of Life", you will now understand what The Bible is saying. You will learn how Our Holy Father wants us to live our lives. You will learn how to stay on the narrow path that leads to eternal life, and stay off of that wide path that leads to destruction. You will learn how to attain The Holy Spirit. The only question that remains is, "Will you read this book?"
