Auch Fußballer verbringen viel Zeit online, ohne dabei die Auswirkungen von Social Media auf ihre sportliche Leistung zu kennen. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es herauszufinden, wie sich die Nutzung der sozialen Medien die sportliche Leistungsfähigkeit von Fußballern beeinflussen und darüber hinaus, ob Social Media für eine gesteigerte Leistungsfähigkeit genutzt werden kann. Um einer Beantwortung dieser Forschungsfragen näher zu kommen, wurden als Methodik dieser Arbeit mit drei Fußballprofis leitfadengestützte Experteninterviews geführt, welche anschließend mithilfe der Datenanalysesoftware MAXQDA 2022 ausgewertet wurde. Die Auswertungen ergaben: Social Media hat einen Einfluss auf die Leistungsfähigkeit eines Fußballspieler. Darüber hinaus wurde ersichtlich, dass eine bewusste und disziplinierte Nutzung von Social Media, die primär für den Kontaktaustausch oder für das Erlernen fußballspezifischer Inhalte genutzt wird, die Leistungsfähigkeit eines Fußballers verbessern kann.
